Cinemassacre/AVGN

The Bugs BunnY episode is the shit. Atari 5200 and Power Glove too, as well as Rob the Robot.
 
Some of the stuff is pure masterpiece. Some of it not so much. Early episodes were generally better, but even the worst stuff is better than stuff on TV
 
I have been watching the nerd episodes since the beginning, and I would consider myself a fan. Rolfe is a talented skit/documentary maker and has been practicing his craft since his early childhood. I would assume that he came out with the episodes which explain the lengthy process of making each nerd episode as a way of giving back to his audience that funded his project. And Rolfe is always mentioning how people send him free stuff, so he is certainly benefiting or capitalizing on his popularity. Also, the nerd character is likely a direct reflection of Rolfe, so don't be surprised if he isn't this great guy who "does it for the fans."

That being said, the current nerd episodes seem to possess an enhanced production quality, yet the luster of the nerd character is not what it once was. The episodes are still entertaining though. But what made the character interesting, the angry/comical part, seems contrived or unnatural since around the time the movie was announced. That is ok from my standpoint, as he fills each episode with interesting facts and knowledge. Also, I do not know what is going on with his sideburns. And I am fairly sure that he is balding as well. He should incorporate that into his nerd character for a comical effect. I wish him the best of luck with his new movie and look forward to his future primary and supporting projects.
 
Yeah I love it! I'm gonna see the movie when it comes to new york! Some great stuff on that site, monster madness is the best!

Pretty much this, One of my favorites was the Dragon's Lair episode where at the end he walks into the door and falls into a pile of bones, I was choking from laughing so hard.
 
I used to watch AVGN but when he went on that long hiatus I quit watching and never came back.
 
Just wanted to say.... AVGN The Movie was HORRIBLE. Just an awful piece of crap! Thank God I didn't donate any money to that fucking abomination!

It literally took me 3 days to get through. I could only stand to watch so much at a time before I had to turn it off. To finish it up required some true fortitude because the movie was just abject.

I chuckled maybe twice. The main opening and credits theme was cool. Otherwise, the rest was just garbage.

AVGN is my guilty pleasure. If only the nerd is trollable, I'd spend days pissing him off!

He's also done some weird stuff like deleting comments on YT, removing ratings and comments entirely when he didn't like what was being said. There was some hypocritical stuff going on there I guess, I can't remember the whole story.

And in general, he just seems a bit full of himself. I've watched him interact with people and I've heard stories of him being a complete dick. I also don't buy he's that much of a gamer. This is the same guy who claimed you couldn't use a controller on a computer or sit on a couch and get comfortable and made several more ignorant comments about the PC as a gaming platform.

$300,000 is extremely cheap for a movie.

Oh yeah, Mike is fucking awful. At least in front of camera. I think he's a big part of the team behind the scenes though, with editing and artwork.
It's funny though, sometimes when they're on together, you can just sense the jealousy, and Mike desperately trying to steal the spotlight.

Overall though, AVGN has run it's course. It's been hit and miss(mostly miss) for a while now. Pretty sure James would even agree as he's been trying to grow his channel into more of a variety show channel like RLM, but shit, you ain't gonna quit your bread and butter that nets you 1M+ views almost instantly.

He isn't writing his own scripts anymore. Screenwave, the guys doing the rental reviews, have been writing his scripts for awhile now.
Mike is an unhinged coke head.
 
Not a fan of AVGN, but Cinemassacre movie reviews are very entertaining especially the ones of 80's and 90's classics.
 
It's depressing, I used to love cinemassacre. now it's purely going through the motions, even this monster madness doesn't have near the same effort as before.

sadly just kinda phoned in. Dat youtube money I guess.
 
It makes me sad seeing him losing his hair. It reminds me we're all getting older lol. His latest episodes haven't been that great IMO. I have switched over to RedLetterMedia for my mindless YouTube viewing.
