Chuck Liddell wouldn't even rank today

Very wrong TS. Rankings are so come and go.. look at Grant... If you mean Liddell coming out of retirement now, then obv., but you mean Chuck fighting now in his prime, which he was just demolishing people. He could knockout someone like Shogun or Hendo, but that's besides the point. Prime Chuck could beat Jones if he actually used his wrestling.

Fedor, Chuck and all this old classics that people jack off over wouldn't last in this day an age, the sports evolved.

Robbie Lawler, Mark Hunt, Shogun, Lil Nog, Josh Barnett, Dan Henderson. You're telling me it's evolved that much eh?

chuck didn't have a chin?

wut????????

the guy had one of the toughest chins in all of MMA. you guys are hilarious.

You're an idiot. If you placed prime Chuck in today's game, it means he would train like today's fighters. Not to mention the guys he beat when he beat them were pretty damn good at the time. Chuck would be top five. Maybe not a title holder, but he'd be a monster.

Oh, I love this.

So, if we assemble a fantasy Chuck, one who never actually existed, he would be great in today's game. Fantasy is a nice place. It's funny how everything goes one's way there.

You have it backwards actually. Guys like Chuck were only allowed such success BECAUSE the talent and technique level was so low back then. They are being phased out of the sport.

Chuck is one of the greatest fighters, he fought in a completely different time.

I don't think he'd beat the top of the division, but to say he wouldn't be ranked is absurd.

The fact that the UFC rankings 6-12 goes Davis, Bader, Hendo, Shogun, OSP, Manuwa, and Fejao should tell you this was a stupid thread.

I watched him in his prime, genius.

You are repeating myths. Urban legends. Like Chuck had some magic chin. Bullshit. That Franklin shot would have put him down at any point of his career.

lol at great technique. He could not handle a modern fighter at all. Overhand right vs a a modern fighter. No. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

Machida would put a prime Chuck down too. He would knock him out. Weidman would beat him as well. We really should be asking if he would even be ranked at MW today.

You are delusional. That Franklin shot wouldn't even drop me.

I have to disagree there. 2013 Vitor was too explosive and sharp for even a prime Chuck to handle.

We will never really know, we both have different opinions and that's all good

There is something very important that hasn't been stated yet ... Chuck would have much better training if he were a 20 year old up and comer in today's MMA world.

Lol. Good point; it's pretty a pretty silly "argument."

"If you took an old school athlete and put them in today's sport but they still had to use their old school training, game planning, diet, and nutrition, they wouldn't do is well."

Well no fucking shit huh.

Well duh, he's just a few months away from age 45. It's like saying Jerry Rice wouldn't be a top receiver today - NO SHIT.

Everything we are talking about in here is fantasy.

Those old school guys cant hang against these young New Breed guys who have been training MMA since birth...

This thread has rocked my world to the core.

Although Chuck today, young and drug free, maybe train off that beer belly and drop to MW, is awesome to think about.

Chucks game was to keep the fight standing and KO guys with his striking. The sport has certainly evolved but even today that is still a very effective skill set. And striking is not something that has evolved enormously since Chuck's prime so its not like today's guys are going to be tooling him on the feet.

No not even close to boxing. And a younger chuck would run through most of the LHW division today. Only jones, rampage, and maybe machida would give him problems.

Jones, rampage, machida... laughable man.... rampage is in bellator and machida is mw.

Golden gloves gus would give chuck problems man. So would rumble and cormier.

This is why I hate MMA fans(well there are many other reasons but this is one). The sport has evolved SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much that Mark Hunt is top 10 at 40 years of age. It's evolved so much that Robbie Lawler is fighting for a title again. People act like guys from some 10 years ago were all bar brawlers or just knew BJJ.
Lol. Agreed.. it has hardly evolved

I'm beginning to miss all the "Fedor could ktfo God" threads.
