Chuck Liddell wouldn't even rank today

Also his striking = just winging haymaker overhand rights... not counter striking, jabbing, excellent use of distance, clean straight right (which probably got more oh his KOs than his signature overhand) left hooks, uppercuts, occasional kicks, one of the best sprawls of all time.... nope, none of that, just the overhand right.

TS has gone full retard.

Its sad really. But I think you have to have been a fan when he was in his prime.
I think never fans never get to understand how good the fighters really were.
Sure you can watch old fights and see them, but its still not the same.'
When you saw it live when you discussed it on the forums the next day.
They will never really get it.

Chuck is pretty comparable to Glover, a top 5er, for a multitude of reasons.

They obviously aren't the exact same fighter, but it's absurd to think Chuck couldn't compete when a former training partner from the same team has done very well for himself in the division.

This makes no logical sense whatsoever. Because your teammate is successful, says nothing about whether you will be successful.

Chuck in his absolute prime I would give him a good chance against Jones possibly even bet on him beating jones

I just don't understand how people can follow this sport, and truly believe that Chuck has anything for Jones.

I mean, come on.

Yeah, but who did he beat? Rampage and Randy got him down. Beating Jeremy Horn, Babalu, and Vernon White is impressive and all, but I would put him as an underdog against anyone in the top 10.

Chuck doesn't actually have many physical gifts, and guys like him are being phased out of the sport. Glover would actually brutalize him for example. Maul him. Choke him unconscious.

Power is a gift. A Great chin is a gift. Fast hands are a gift. FFS, Vitor is still relevant, and Chuck's hands were just as fast as his, directly in a fight, against a younger, presumably even more juiced up Vitor.

There is no way I can see fucking Glover brutalizing a prime Chuck. Chuck has at least equal power to Glover, a better chin in his prime, and far faster hands and even feet.

Everyone sucks, everyone is the goat. Sherdog in a nutshell.

There is something very important that hasn't been stated yet ... Chuck would have much better training if he were a 20 year old up and comer in today's MMA world.

Hard to admit because I loved watching Chuck fight, but really he was just a tough bro who banged. Striking has evolved now to the point where every ranked fighter would watch tape on him, pick and angle to step away from the overhand right and then take out Chuck's chin, even in Chuck's prime.

Watching Firas's video of how Rory picked apart Woodley demonstrated how far striking in this sport has come. It's almost on par with boxing now.

Chuck was responsible for UFC's mainstream success and was a very exciting fighter. He was one of the guys who got me into MMA. That said, Chuck was never truly the #1 LHW in the world. There was always a guy like Rampage, Couture, Wanderlei, Shogun, Hendo, or whoever ranked above him. I don't feel like Chuck was past his prime when he lost to Rampage or Jardine or Rashad. I feel like he just wasn't on their level. It wasn't like Fedor when he was clearly not as good as he was 5 or 10 years earlier.

But Chuck was fun as fuck to watch and I definitely miss getting geared up for his fights.

The Chuck that had a chin of steel....I would favor against most of the current LHW division.

He could take a punch to give one. Solid KO power...just needs to hit you once.

One of the greatest TDD of alltime. Even if you somehow got him down...he would just stand up.

Love to see prime Jones vs Liddell.

Anyone who says Jones would walk over Chuck, doesn't remember how good Chuck was in his prime.

Chuck does not have fast hands or exceptional power, not enough to make a dent in today's game. Nowhere near the hand speed or boxing of Vitor. lol. fucking please.

Glover would take Chuck down and have his way with them. And have little threat from his standing. Rampage destroyed Chuck twice. Chuck had NOTHING for Rampage in his prime. And Glover has a slick ground game. Chuck would be subbed. He would be helpless.

Pele, Monson, Randleman, Mezger, Bustamante, Suloev, Belfort, Ortiz, Overeem.

It's also quite possible that Chuck would've been a very different fighter if he came up in today's MMA. Chuck got into the game when they were training in the backyard and fighting in bars and HS gyms. That was the pinnacle of MMA at the time. Chuck in his prime as he was was would still be a top 5 LHW today.

Dude Babe Ruth would be terrible by today's standards. He was just some fat guy that hit the ball far. Just look at how much more advanced the players are today; he wouldn't stand a chance LOL!!1

Pele, Monson, Randleman, Mezger, Bustamante, Suloev, Belfort, Ortiz, Overeem.

None of those guys mean much today. And if you think Chuck would stand a chance with modern Vitor or Overeem, it further proves your delusion.

Did you see their fucking fight idiot?

Glover ain't taking down Chuck. Lol. His wrestling is average.

Little threat standing, when fucking Bader's slow ass almost ko'd Glover? LOL.

Rampage never destroyed Chuck. They had a competitive first fight, and then Chuck believed in his own hype too much in the second and got caught. Rampage is arguably a bad match up for Chuck, at least when he focuses on his hand work more than his kicks. Happens.

Did you see Chuck's power ratings in his punches? Greater than than the average heavyweight boxer by quite a bit. That's not something that suddenly doubled or something over the past few years after he retired. Lol.

You're far too caught up in this 'evolution of the sport' shit. People are not superhumans now in MMA compared to 8 years ago. No one is walking through Chuck's hands.

Dude go back and watch some fights of the iceman in his prime, he was fast, great technique, his ttd was unbelievable and iron chin. To take down chuck was ridiculously hard.
Chuck IMO is much better then glover.

Pele, Monson, Randleman, Mezger, Bustamante, Suloev, Belfort, Ortiz, Overeem.

Yea but Belfort and overeem are shit man, he'd have nothing for them now..

Lets be serious, chuck is there or there abouts in terms of all time lhw greats. Id fancy his chances against most in his prime. To rule chuck out is ridiculous, the babalu fight I'll always remember. He didn't have to take that fight, could've waited for a title shot, but no, chuck being the legend he is takes the fight and ends it in brutal fashion.

People have short memories round here.
