Day 21 Movie 21

It's A Wonderful Life

View attachment 1076702

My Rating: 9/10

My Opinion: Not gonna lie, I was really close to giving this a 10/10 and ranking it #1 over Die Hard. It's a beautiful film from start to finish with my 2 favourite parts being first 15 mins when George is a kid and then the last 15 mins. The ending is one of the best endings in film and it's why I'm almost gave it the nod over Die Hard.

The opening scene again is one of my favourite scenes in the movie. The only question I have is why did George at age 12 have to run and ask his father about what he should do about the poison he knew was mistakenly put in the wrong bottle lol but it leads into the scene with George and his boss that is so well done, I liked how well the little girl reacted and you can believe she is frightened and scared. It was perfect.

What I didn't like is after this the movie moves ahead 9 years later and George is now 21 years old and he is Jimmy Stewart who is 38 years old irl lol
He's so old and it's not believable at all that this middle aged man is 21 😂

When George finally meets the angel he is stopped from jumping off the bridge into the cold waters below by the angel who jumps off the bridge into the cold waters down below. So George who was planning on killing himself by jumping off the bridge, then jumps off the bridge to save the angel lol IDK man I thought this was so dumb. It's the only 2 things I didn't like about this movie. Everything else I loved.

It's also quite underrated with some of the comedy. I thought it was funny. When all of the guys are drooling over Violet one of the guys says he needs to run home to his wife lol it's a clean joke I liked. Also the encounter when George loses it with the kids teacher and her husband over the phone. It leads to a funny.....punch....line.

I can't say enough about the ending. You have to watch the entire movie to really appreciate it. It's not something you can enjoy just watching on YouTube unless you have seen this movie countless times. If I didn't grow up watching Die Hard a 1000 times, It's A Wonderful Life would be #1 rn. It could very well surpass it which I never thought I would say before I watched this movie today.

I watched this in 4K but the black/white version. I can't wait to watch the colored version next year.

8 Crazy Nights

View attachment 1076785

Synopsis: Davey Stone, an alcoholic with a criminal record, is sentenced to community service under the supervision of an elderly referee. Davey is then faced with trying to reform and abandon his bad habits.

My Rating: 7/10

My Opinion: I'm a Sandler fan and I think this comedy gets overlooked in his career. I did laugh a good amount and its short, sweet and wraps up like the typical Sandler comedy with getting the hot girl in the end. I'm going to keep the the rest of these short n sweet since it feels pointless now.

Teenage Yoel and his crew bought tickets to this on a busy night and said hi to people we knew working at the theatre. Back to the cars, raced across town, pulled off a fully justified revenge heist, raced back to the theatre on a busy night to be seen again to form our rock solid bullet proof alibi. All I remember from that movie is nervously laughing at everything and the deer shitting.

Sadly, we never graduated to banks or casinos and called it quits after that one.

Filled old hockey water bottles with rolls of cash and buried them in the snow. Among lots of other things it funded an incredible trip to montreal for us underage morons.

National Lampoons Christmas

Vacation

Synopsis: The Griswold family's plans for a big family Christmas predictably turn into a big disaster.

My Rating: 8/10

My Opinion: One of my favourite theater experiences was seeing this last year or the year prior I forget which. Still a great movie, great cast, still funny. For me the movie always picks up once Eddie shows up.

Batman Returns

View attachment 1076374

Synopsis: While Batman deals with a deformed man calling himself the Penguin wreaking havoc across Gotham with the help of a cruel businessman, a female employee of the latter becomes the Catwoman with her own vendetta.

My Rating: 8/10

My Opinion: Again another strong 8 possibly low 9 out of 10 movie for me. And yes this is a movie you should watch at Christmas time. When we are introduced to the penguin as a baby and then again as a man it's both near or on Christmas day. Gotham is celebrating the Christmas holidays throughout the entire movie.

While it's not only my fav Christmas movie so far, it's possibly my favourite batman movie. Its so much fun to watch and I like it more and more every time I re watch it. There's quite a few adult jokes that are made you will catch if you're paying attention. To me the funniest joke I always laugh at is when Christopher Walken says to Michael Keaton, 'Bruce, why are you dressed up like Batman?' It always gets me every single time. Michelle Pfeiffer is definitely the sexiest cat woman in film but she would be perfect if she gained at least 25-30. Also the only thing I disliked about the movie is how she turns into cat woman. Falling out of a window and being licked by cats shouldn't warrant martial art skills lol

The ending is so good it's unfortunate Burton didn't get a 3rd shot at another batman movie. In fact since Burton just did the Beetlejuice sequel, I would love for him to make a 3rd Batman movie with Keaton even now. Old batman passes the torch.

Day 24 Movie 24

Home Alone

My Rating: 9/10

My Opinion: This has always been my favourite Christmas movie and will forever remain nostalgic for me. But this is the first time it's not ranked #1 and I think its because I watched it over 3 weeks ago when he was lost in NY. Same movie. Although I did enjoy more in the second when the mom finds Kevin compared to the first. I also thought the second had the better jokes. In all honesty this movie is probably a high 8/10 for me but will forever be in the top 3 Christmas movies for me. Hopefully in a few years when I watch it again itll jump back to 1.
