They don't exist to me. I only like the real ones (i.e 1 & 2). I guess that could be said about a few different franchises. Home Alone. Terminator. Alien. Godfather. Batman (Begins/TDK).

I only care about the first two. The rest range from bad to godawful.

Synopsis: A couple struggles to visit all 4 of their divorced parents on Christmas

My Rating: 7/10

My Opinion: It's really funny, easily the funniest film out of the first 3 films so far. I remember watching this at the theater with a gf at the time but I haven't seen it since. I was pleasantly surprised at how funny it was and its short n sweet too!

Great cast as well with Vince Vaughn (doesnt get the love he deserves for comedies) Reese Witherspoon, Robert Duvall, Jon Voight, Jon Favreau, Mary Steenburgen, Kristin Chenoweth, and Katy Mixon Greer (who is also underrated and hilarious)

Vince is always quick witted and sharp with his delivery, he has a overlooked 2000s filmography of comedies and I would put this movie near the top. Its that funny to me.

The 2 funniest scenes in the movie to me is when they visit Vinces parents. Favreau and Greer shine bright alongside Vaughn. Eventually they visit Vinces mom and talk about being uncomfortable lol

Good comedy and good Christmas movie.

Jingle All The Way

Synopsis: A father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. However, every store is sold out, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one.


My Rating: 7/10

My opinion: This has always been one of my favourite Christmas movies growing up. You got Arnold, you got Phil Hartman, and you got Sinbad. Arnold is Arnold but I always enjoyed when he did comedy movies such as this film, Kindergarten cop and twins. Hartman is a Comedic genius with not only how he delivers his lines but also how he reacts off other actors. Sinbad might seem like the odd pairing here but at the time he was near the top of the comedy world. This is his best film although I did like Sinbad and Hartmans first pairing in Houseguest.

I still find the movie to be very funny and I enjoyed watching it again from start to finish. My only gripe is Jamie & Liz not being able recognize that turbo man was his father and her husband lol his face isn't even disguised plus he's Austrian lol But the movie still delivers for me and I still like it a lot.

Krampus

Synopsis: A boy who has a bad Christmas accidentally summons a festive demon to his family home.

My Rating: 6/10

My Opinion: i did enjoy this movie which is both comedy and horror. But I was also a little let down as well. They went from pulling no punches, no prisoners to a cop out at the end.

I did like the cast overall mostly but mostly just Toni Collette who seemed like the only one in the film that should act in a horror film. I also liked Conchata Ferrell, if you don't recognize the name she played the house keeper on 2 1/2 men. She is again funny here. I wasn't a fan of having Adam Scott as the lead. He's not a leading man, a side actor or co star, sure, but not a leading man. Especially when Toni Collette is your lead actress lol they didn't even look like a believable couple.

I was kind of disappointed when you finally get to see Krampus. Even the toys he uses was more comical than scary although the Jack in the box was probably the best. The suspense of the characters off screen making nosies or stalking the main characters was better then when they actually appeared on screen.

I thought overall it was decent and it could have been better but not bad overall.

My Rating: 7/10

My Opinion: Ok this movie was really good. Possibly great. I'm not ready to put it over 2 of my nostalgic favs on first watch but its possible when I watch it again.

Great cast and cameos. Never really cared for Hugh Grant but I was most intrigued with his story line, although it is a bit weird to have a Prime Minister and President battle over a woman they both want to bang but i don't blame them! She was sexy!

I also liked Liam Niesons storyline with his son. I didn't care for Rick Grimes storyline at all. Dude is in love with his best friends wife. Always a low blow move in my book. Way too many women out there you don't have to betray your best bud over. The funniest storyline without a doubt was the soft core porn love angle lol

I'm not sure how many contenders there are out there but for a Christmas romcom this might be the best one. I laughed quite a bit too. I liked Four Christmases a lot but I give this film the slight nod over it.

Ejiofor has it rough in moves. In doctor strange they take his job. In 12 years a slave they take his freedom. And in Love Actually his best friend takes his girl.

I think they could've cut the Laura Linney storyline too.

Love Actually is definitely my favorite Christmas romcom. I've watched this movie over 10x, although it's been at least 5 years since I've last watched it.

Synopsis: Raised as an oversized elf, Buddy travels from the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father, Walter Hobbs, who doesn't know he exists and is in desperate need of some Christmas spirit.

My Rating: 8/10

My Opinion: It's for sure my #2 fav Will Ferrell movie and maybe even #2 James Caan movie and its Jon Favreas best film imo. Elf will always be near and dear to me because I was working at a movie theater at the time it was released and I watched this movie with a lot of my family (parents, sisters, bro in law, nieces, nephews) at the theater because I could get free tickets. It still holds up and its still really great!

Will Ferrell is perfect in this role and i think its his most career defining role playing Buddy the ELF. He plays being simple, innocent and oblivious as perfect as it gets in a Comedic performance. Mary Steenburgen this time playing his step mom (mom from Step Brothers) has a small role here but reminded me watching Wills best films have her in the mother role. Zooey Deschanel is really cute as a blonde and she has a sweet singing voice. The scene where she's singing in the shower and Will is singing along is one of my favs scenes even though irl the movie ends there because Buddy gets arrested and is banned from there lol

I suppose my only gripe is the ending is sort of weak and it didn't stay with the high pace of the film that was set once Will is on screen. Its an high 8/10 for me, one of my favourite Christmas/Ferrell movies.
