3 commies live on my block. i unfortunately ran into the dumbass in the vid i posted about 5 times. i see commies every time there's some sort of protest here. and yeah, i'm not sure how many truly believe it or if they just larp it/pretend to because socialism is no longer edgy. there were even a bunch of annoying commies that tried to enter my circle of friends (a girl i dated made the mistake of being nice to them once) ~10 years ago. but the main one ("marty rifles" aka "comrade martin") offed himself and they mostly vanished. there's still a commie bookstore here (wooden shoe) that's a SJW haven.

i have no idea how you can possibly have literally never met any commies - unless you're agoraphobic or don't live in a major city or haven't been near a campus in the last ~7 years.

a prof i knew at st. joes (actually, we got in a spat over this that ended our quasi-friendship) bitched endlessly about her students and showed us the godawful final papers they turned in. she was having a breakdown because almost all of them were dreadful. she was pressured into giving them all Bs and caved. i lost respect for her for failing to do her damn job and being part of the problem.

Imo the problem with past lefty revolutions is that once they overthrow what's there, the reality that a utopia can never exist because people are inherently trash hits and you just centralized power to the state. The state now has free reign to crack down in order to keep a hold on that power and boom you end up with a police state. Happened in China, happened in Russia, probably happened in every other red revolution too.

Only the most foolish obnoxious day 1 lefty would want that, all that tells me is that those people aren't yet educated enough to realize the holes in that philosophy and they shouldn't be taken seriously.
