International China Turns to Australia for Beef, USA Loses $2.5 Billion Now at 'Zero'; Australia Will Receive 'Huge Flow' of Cheaper Electronics, Machinery, etc

Just got off the phone with them. The US cattle industry has about $35 billion in revenue, while something like 60% of Temu sales are to the US, and other exports to the US are over 10% of China's entire economy. Sorry, but your desperate wish for China to win a trade war is going to need quite a bit more than a small fraction of beef sales and no more birth tourism.
You still think there is going to be a winner in all of this. How cute.

China needs the US more than the other way around. We're their biggest customers - by orders of magnitude.

Australian beef is garbage I'm over here in Asia and that's what most of the steak houses have out here. It just doesn't taste like good ole USA beef. Now I know that is because of the chemicals we put in our food but man does it taste better.

In short:

The United States's $2.5 billion beef trade to China has come to a halt.
Australia's cattle industry is enjoying a surge in demand from China for grain-fed beef.

"[US beef] sales to China have fallen to zero."

In short:

Experts say the US-China tariff war could deliver cheaper Chinese-made goods to Australian consumers.
Cars, phones and electronic products once destined for the US could be exported to Australia instead, resulting in lower prices.

---

Also, the $12 billion export of soybeans to China is in jeopardy, which is an even bigger deal especially for US farmers.

What's the phrase? More winning?

If you're an Aussie, is this good news or does it make you uncomfortable to pushed ever closer to China?
Normal America > China
Fuckwit America < China

Given we have 4 more years of this, I will take the China deal. Preferably we go more into Europe than China.

You'll see the destruction of your economy soon follow, just like the US. Enjoy your cheap, Chinese crap.

USA: we buy all your shit so we get to tell you all what to do
China: ....
EU: ...

australia, Canada and Greenland for some reason

"Cheerleading", lol

Most people want America to turn this round.

You seem upset.
I'm skeptical. I think there are people rooting for us to fail here. I've seen pro China rhetoric right here in this forum.

"we are adversarial on most other fronts. What is much more likely is that Australia seeks to find more common ground with Europe, Canada, the UK and Indonesia, since it cannot trust China and the US is presently an unreliable partner"

Yes, that would be the best outcome. The democracies of the world building stronger bonds and increasing cooperation.

While the US does the same with it's new societal role models: Russia, North Korea and El Salvador 👌

It's not about rooting anyone to fail. What's with these extreme notions you have? Everyone wants a fair deal within the countries. Every country wants the best for their own.

Asking for a fair deal in this scenario is the best course of action. But what is fair though? There is big difference from wanting a fair deal to being overly greedy.

This whole extreme tariff attacks is not the way to go. And the US weren't that bad before the tariffs? Were you struggling for ends meet before than?

The idea you can bully people around and think you'll get away with it's just not smart way of dealing with things. You gotta respect the countries you're dealing with.

eh, I think there are people so blinded for their hatred of Trump that they are throwing in with China. Maybe its just interweb edge lords? Who knows? But its there.

Its a zero-sum world for lil Sean. Whether through his intellectual limitations, or because his partisan brain demands that he finds some kind of Other to accuse and blame and deflect and project onto, he seemingly has no ability to see beyond a simple binary framing of pretty much any situation.

I have a theory that one of the reasons these conservatives lust after the lost halcyon days of the 1950s is that the on-screen villains literally wore a different-coloured hat, making them easy to identify. I can only imagine how much that decreases their stress levels, not having to do any mental work before deciding on the appropriate hate-figure.

Maybe we can get some cheaper beef in the states. It's ridiculous now.

If you want to see expensive beef come to Australia. I was amazed at prices and sizes of steaks in the US. Most of your food was great value comparatively imo. Australia is very expensive place to live, US not so much outside of the big cities.

When was the last time you were here? Since COVID it's gotten crazy. You spend $9/lb for a chuck roast now. It's nuts. There is no "cheap" option.

People are not blinded by anything, but more concerned by Trump actions. It's his decision making that's what people are not liking of Trump.

The guy is complete self absorbed asshole.

After converting USD to dollarydoos and whatever lb is to kg it looks like you are paying the same price as us now. RIP the good old days
