Other countries require tests and quarantines from tourists. The US' tourist COVID numbers are absolutely blowing other countries' tourist numbers away right now. I'm looking at 1 country right now where incoming Americans present 10 times as many cases as the closest country. So, projecting how bad America handled this onto other countries may not be realistic.. It might actually just be that we were so incompetent, that you can't even believe how incompetent we were, and thus other countries must be bullshitting.

Very little about China is real.
You can't believe the stats but even if they were only 10x that like 50 000, remember they live in a different reality.
The government literally welded people into their houses to stop movement it is not the normal human conditions we are used to so no comparison.

If you are well informed as to the disease prevention measure that the Chinese government takes every time a person gets the sniffles over there you would not be so surprised at the low death toll. Not to say that those numbers are 100% accurate but clearly they are doing things much differently in China, and east Asian in general.

So yeah... when you shut down an entire city and test millions of people over the weekend because one positive test result, track and trace people with the apparatus of a true surveillance state, and spray down every inch of concrete with fleets of cleaning trucks and an army of guys in space suits.. you can get better results than places that pretend they are not in the midst of a global once in a century pandemic.

Not sure if real, after all China's always been shady with figures.

BUT, it'd be stupid to think it's impossible that their death count is lower than many other countries, given their authoritative and massive lockdowns, and citizens actually abiding by government demands.

China might be a massive asshole but they're goddamn efficient.

Yeah it is pretty sad. We can give compliments to China on their competence in quick mobilization while also criticizing some of their authoritarian approach. People on this board are way too binary in their thinking. I think one of the biggest problems is peoples' perceptions of China still lag behind their progress. They've progressed so fast in the last two decades that people still think of them as a country that is really poor.

China had to build emergency incinerators all around the country to keep up with demand early last year. I had a couple of friends in China during the initial outbreak, and they said there were literally so many sick people just laying outside of hospitals, and even just dead people in the streets. You will never get any real numbers from China. They way under-report bad numbers and way over inflate good numbers like GDP. They are still having large outbreaks and lockdowns but you will never hear about them in the western world. Only numbers the CCP report, they claim are from foreigners who brought the virus in with them.

several things :
-I dont believe the numbers and neither should anyone with half a brain
- the lockdowns in china are way waay harder than what we saw in Europe or america. they dont fuck around
-the penalties for not wearing masks in public or not doing whatever is asked of you by state mandate are severe.
-nobody will cry muh freedoms because, well...
-you can never implement the china model in a free society in the west
-efficiency comes at the cost of personal freedoms, for sure. they just decided it is better to beat the virus than to let it go nuts. china government cannot afford civil unrest or destabilization. that sort of shit is lethal for Chinese leadership.
