The current MW champion, Dricus Du Plessis has admitted that he prefers to fight ‘Borz’ next over Strickland, however, the promotion is still yet to make their decision known.

‘Stillknocks’ revealed that UFC 312 in February was targeted for his next defense, however, the plan seems to have changed. Chimaev revealed that he will be in attendance for UFC 312
as scheduled for UFC meet & greets, as a guest fighter.

“Right now there haven’t been any offers for that event. Well, I’m planning to go there as I already have a contract to have a couple of meetings there, I need to go there according to the contract
and do some work, meet with fans there, talk and communicate."

“I haven’t talked to anyone about a fight for this, nothing like that so my plans are to recover,” Chimaev continued.

Probably because Dana need his proper buildup, ie a walk up into the ring where everyone talks trash and a fake fight ensues a la lesnar cormier

This is #1 bullshit. Khamzat vs DDP should be next. Idk why the ufc is dragging its feet on this one. Get Khamzat another fight while he’s healthy, maybe the ufc still doesn’t trust Khamzat. He did have trouble making weight against Whittaker.

Hahahaha so they are doing Strickland vs DDP rematch.

I like it as a Strickland fan but if I'm being honest the meritocracy demands that Khamzat should be next.

Khamzat cageside, winner calls him out - interaction in cage, sell the next one. UFC seems to have their plan drawn up.

That’s the thing for me too, very rarely do we have instructing stylistic matchups,


I don’t care about Strickland remaining marketable, bai fight style is ok, his promotions are ok(albeit tiresome).

I don’t need to see that rematch. It was good. But the khamzat ddp could end up as the best fight of all time and we won’t have a shot if they jsut wanna protect Strickland star status with a. Rematch

I've been wondering lately if certain fighters haven't been working "guaranteed fights" into their contracts with the UFC. It's just a feeling I've had in certain cases, but watching Strickland interviews he seems so confident that he's getting the next title shot. The way he says the fight is "written in stone" makes me think he has a contractual guarantee to fight the DDP/Adesanya winner.

We know special agreements do happen, because Francis Ngannou was able to negotiate his way out of the UFC champion's clause. He managed to fight out his contract as a UFC champion and leave the organization, something which is physically impossible with standard UFC contacts.

I really don't like the whole lose the belt win 1 fight and fight for the title again progression. Especially when that fighter isn't a long time champ.

I'd like at least 2 wins before they fight for the title.

With that said no one has ever done that to Whittaker. Give khazmat the title shot already.
