I hate making excuses for a guy with a history of pulling out but FWIW I've only had food poisoning twice in my lifetime and both times were off Chipotle.

Food poisoning can indeed be rather serious (I’ve had a case of it with three days of non stop toilet, very high temperature and severe dehydration).

Having said that, it usually clears up in 3-4 days and doesn’t leave cardio respiratory issues like Covid or other viruses. So it would seem that one bad week shouldn’t impact a 12-16 weeks fight camp so much.

Also, I’d expect a famous pro athlete under the care of sheikhs to have super selected, controlled and carefully prepared meals during the training period.
