Chiesa is done

He'll be joining Felder on the panel full time very soon. He benefited from timing when he moved up. Now that WW is slowly shedding itself from the retirement home fighters and fat LWs he won't have a place much longer

So by your own words he was happy being there while collecting a nice paycheck and you want him to retire?

He was done when he lost after his Mother was disrespected on a public platform.

Chiesa should probably retire at this point, I think he’s lost the fire. He was losing the entire fight and maintained this buddy buddy attitude. Laughing, joking around. What the hell? I know Chiesa has always suffered with performance nerves but this performance last night was just bizarre. He was happy to be there, not looking to reclaim his contendership. Way too at peace with losing. This was a guy that was so upset losing to Masvidal, Luque, etc. that he ran from the decision he wanted the win so bad. Last night he couldn’t care less
If he's having fun I say keep doing it.

Can someone explain how Sean Brady won that fight without landing a punch or attempting a submisison?
I believe he landed 5 takedowns over the course of 3 rounds. Brady definitely won rounds 1 and 2. In the third round Chiesa lit him up in the feet and almost finished him in the end, however Brady did control Chiesa on the ground for 2-3 minutes.
Brady essentially won by lay and pray. It was impressive how he took Chiesa down, but that was about it. He showed how bad his striking is by getting lit up and hurt by Chiesa of all people.

i don't understand this Chiesa hate or underestimation.

He's done very well at WW, it really fits his long frame much more than LW did (and he was a decent LW). His only losses at WW are to Luque (in a fight he was winning until he got caught) and Sean Brady (who he nearly finished at the end of the fight, with Brady winning through boring blanketing, and Chiesa likely would have won in a 5 rounder).

I think he's still a very tough fight for a lot of WW's. Would not surprise me if he beat some of the top 5.

Didn't he lose to Levin Kee as well?

No way... His striking looks much improved, and we all know he can snatch a submission at anytime. He's still a top 10 guy, he just ran into a top prospect last night.

He lost a fight in a division he didn't belong in. And he never tapped against FKL, the ref just ended it. They both wanted a rematch but FKL changed his mind, or lied about wanting it.
Regardless, he finished Al and beat RDA, two guys who beat FKL.

IMO if they fought at WW Chiesa would beat FKL. At WW Chiesa can actually take a shot, whereas at LW he couldn't because of the huge cut. There have been fighters who said that Chiesa seems more like a MW than a WW.

Sounds like you got way too invested in the dude pre - fight, TS. Like yu're his dad or something

Never been impressed with Chiesa.

I was expecting him to get finished so he should be happy.

He probably is sticking around long enough to try to land a commentary or analysis job with the UFC like so many other mediocre fighters are doing.

I like Chiesa, but he displayed some of the worst fight IQ and decision making I've ever seen.
He kept giving up his back, over and over again.
Then just gave Brady his leg with those flying knees over and over, only to be taken down and held down.

Also I think the eye pokes messed with his head a bit, he wasn't able to do any hand trapping/ fighting after that.

I agree with you. He seems like he is Looking to be liked instead of being mean and aggressive during the duration of the fight.

Just on the first page I saw at least 2 people mention 5 rounds. It wasn’t a 5 round fight, and he knew that. If you don’t start stepping on the gas until round 3 of a 3 round fight. You shouldn’t expect to win. That’s called having a bad gameplan. Why make excuses for it? I don’t get it.

His last 2 wins were RDA and Magny. 2 very well rounded competitors.

Losing to a future title challenger in Luque and an undefeated prospect breaking through. Not a horrible 4-2 WW record

Guy just lost to an undefeated fighter and now he should retire?
