Chiesa is done

Chiesa was actually hurting Brady on the feet and nearly finished him at the end. He would have gotten the finish had Brady not burned the clock backpacking him for most of the round.

He's not done (at least not yet) but his chance at getting a title shot probably is.

For some people on sherdog, if you aren't in the top 5 your done.

so if there is 700 fighters on the roster and only 55 in the top 5, then we have 645 fighters who are done. That's some serious dead weight UFC wtf..

Yep. In a row. After being inches from a title shot and on the best run of his career. Now he gets taken down and says “oh geez they were right you are strong haha!” Then helps his man up after the bell. Even Brady was like ummm? After the fight he says he wishes he got the W but he had fun??? He’s done.

Dude just got paid to grapple with someone and barely get hit, whilst he nearly finished the guy. He can go back to the drawing board and I think he wins the rematch if they get to meet again. Not great to lose, but it's not a career ender.

Chiesa should probably retire at this point, I think he’s lost the fire. He was losing the entire fight and maintained this buddy buddy attitude. Laughing, joking around. What the hell? I know Chiesa has always suffered with performance nerves but this performance last night was just bizarre. He was happy to be there, not looking to reclaim his contendership. Way too at peace with losing. This was a guy that was so upset losing to Masvidal, Luque, etc. that he ran from the decision he wanted the win so bad. Last night he couldn’t care less
Reminded me of Anthony Joshua.
Decent at what they do but not fighters.

Wow nice, Mr Discipline doesn't like fighters smiling! He should have freaked out then retired as a worthless top 15 UFC fighter, it's a darned joke right?

Exactly.
This was actually the best loss of his career, if you think about it.

He definitely didn't seem to have that sense of urgency in this fight until the last 30 seconds. I'm wondering if he's overcompensating for getting careless against Luque.

??? But he knew ahead of time it was 3
Okay, but so what? Nobody is saying Chiesa won the fight.

It's just a moral victory / a reason to think a rematch could go differently. He brought 3+ rounds of cardio into a 3-round fight, his opponent brought 2.5 rounds.

If his opponent couldn't bring 3 when he knew he needed 3, what's he going to do when he needs 5?

Nowhere near done as a fighter. Could see him being a surprise cut with another loss, 2 at most. He's got a style that most fans don't like and the UFC is very cognizant of that.

Why retire? He's still capable of making plenty of money fighting. He hasn't fallen so far where his skill set and health have declined to the point where he's a threat to himself.

Retiring now would be dumb.

Yes, he probably will never be a champion but most of us knew that already.

The fact remains that he makes 80k show/win. And fight multiple times a year. So his annual salary is somewhere between 160k-480k yearly plus bonuses and reebok money. (Yes, I know UFC should be paying him more but sadly this is the reality we live in)

If he retires where is going to give a job that pays him that much??? He should stay and try to stack up as much money as possibly can.
His UFC career earnings are estimated at nearly one and half million, he's doing alright.

He's fools gold. I've never really thought he was that good.
