Law Cheers, Guv Gav for the happiness of California p******!

I just swapped out today my shorts for long trousers being it's a bit colder. Both my knees I can count Rocket scratch scars on being she gets so stuck in. I constantly pick scabs off my shoulders walking her around the house purring in my ear.

I know some blokes here think I'm an idiot for rescuing cats but they're the morons.

Nope. Rescuing cats or dogs is very noble. All my cats save one (the old mean one was a barn cat’s kitten) are rescues, including Loki, who is on my lap ATM.

I just find it hilarious how this state prioritizes things. There's a thousand other issues plaguing this state and declawing cats is at the top of the list.
It’s not, but it is an easy fix…

What is this about?
Are the birds also being de-winged in California or something?

Cause that seems like a problem with a pretty simple solution

I'm a cat fan, but cats really are the primary cause of steep song bird declines in population over the past half century (and probably earlier, but the earlier data is sketchy). It's pretty well researched.

Maybe in countries that don't round up strays? I think we're pretty good in the West. Egypt? Probably not so good for the birds.

Feral and "outside" cats do indeed kill a lot of birds. However they have been made a scapegoat for declining populations. The most impactful factor in the decline in bird populations is human beings.
It's not though. We used to think it was human activity, but the research is pretty clear now and it's mostly cats... which are a sort of human activity, sure, but that's the one. Not really all the other stuff.

I won this cute little chick in drawing in kindergarten after we incubated the eggs. I bought it a nice little cage and set up it's food, water, and scratch area. I bonded with this little creature and let it walk around on me. It even shit on my chest once and I wasn't even that mad. One day I came home from school and went to visit my little pal. I found him shredded into tiny pieces and my cat(Yoshi) sitting there with blood covering his fur. Not that this has anything to do with wild bird populations, but I wouldn't doubt that cats kill plenty. The point of my story was mostly to say, fuck cats.

I'm sorry, brother, that whole story just caught me funny.
Lol. That's nature for ya. I was really just trying to bust ya balls a bit. That is a true story though and it could be part of the reason I'm so fucked up today.

Yeah, that entire study seems to be based on feels and not grounded in any kind of concrete data.
I don't know what to tell you, man. It has been very much the scientific consensus for about a decade and a half now that cats are the most devastating human related cause of declining bird populations, all over the world, including North America. This is what all of the peer reviewed research tells us:

True in the UK:

True in Canada:

And true in the US:

This is just a tiny sampling of the scholarly articles I could cite. Just the first few that come up when searching on Google Scholar. I don't know why you think I'd just be out here making this up. It's not some political issue where a person might try to force their bias on everyone. It's cats. Who doesn't like cats? I'm not bashing them. Just out here telling the truth.

You should:

Nah, they get a bad rap. Sure they kill, but their impact on populations are usually overstated.

"There is general agreement that free-roaming cats can pose a significant risk to wildlife populations; however, the credible evidence is quite clear that this risk is limited to very specific contexts (e.g., small islands) and even then is likely only one part of a larger story. Sweeping claims that lack necessary context (e.g., conflating island and mainland environments) confuse the issue and impede productive conversation about how best to manage free-roaming cat populations"

What is it with you MAGA clowns and being unabashed, unashamed idiots? How do you proudly spout such fucking blatantly, patently untrue nonsense?

The primary driving factor in the decline in small bird populations in habitat loss. Full stop. Yes, cats are a factor in the decline of some bird populations, but there are other factors: pesticides killing off insect populations leading to food scarcity for some birds, climate change, WINDOW COLLISIONS.

Sure, maybe there a small number of bird species that are more vulnerable to cat predation, but the overall driving factor in the decline of bird populations is easily humans.

Quit calling everyone you disagree with "MAGA". You agree with me, and I disagree with him. Does that make you MAGA now?

Touch some grass.
