I would love to see some stats on the decimation of the bird population and the need to declaw cats as a result.

My 3 are indoors always, I have a hanging bird feeder for Rocket because it's mum daughter bird watching time looking out the window at them. She makes the chittering sort of noise which considering I never let her out how did she learn that? My cat growing up used to bring mice in which when my dad was living in another country couldn't put them out of their misery and my mum had to get a neighbour round. Pretty sure they would have been caught and brought in as gifts regardless of claws.

As far as Newsom goes, he's been an extremely poor governor, Democrats approval ratings have been the lowest in decades, and he's alienated the extreme-left with his attempts to become more moderate this year.

His governorship alone gives Republicans alone enough ammo to shoot him down in the general election, easily. Off the top of my head... Covid-19, the wildfires in LA at the beginning of the year, and the riots against ICE a few months ago.
Enforcing immigration law & deporting illegals is now a 70/30 issue, so if Newsom - or any other Democrat - wants to be the spokesman for the 30 and Vance for the 70, that'd be awesome.

Also, did you see the Newsom-DeSantis debate last year? Complete domination for DeSantis & utter embarrassment for Newsom. DeSantis was all offense because he had the ammo to be all offense, and Newsom was all defense and his wife called an end of the debate during a commercial break.

So that's why chances are the Democrats are looking for a 2nd option.... Probably AOC since she's been giving very few interviews this year to avoid saying anything embarrassing.

A political figure's future are opinions so claiming Gavin Newsom has "no chance" of becoming president would be a mistake because he is widely considered a leading contender for the 2028 Democratic nomination, his eventual success is not guaranteed, dismissing his chances entirely contradicts recent political analysis and polling .

( Trump's past comments about a third term have shifted between humorous remarks and serious statements indicating he was "not joking" after winning the 2024 election, he has been more direct about the idea, even while acknowledging it would violate the U.S. Constitution's 22nd Amendment. )
