Well I think there is feminists in Dagestan and there is even a couple of porn girls of Dagestani origin. I think if porn girls are ok then female fans of Moscow soccer teams are gonna be ok too.

It's more complicated than a puppet-puppetmaster relationship. Kadyrov has more power and influence than a mere puppet. He and Putin have an understanding, and neither wants to get too much on the bad side of the other. But Kadyrov has done things to annoy Moscow in the past, and will continue to; that's not a puppet, it's someone who sees cooperation (to a point) as being in their best interest.

When I lived in Minsk we had Chechen refugees live around us back in the 90s, you would never see their wives, daughters, etc. Ever.

Seems nothing has changed since.

So they're inevitably going to be "linked" to someone the West hates.

I really hope they don't try to pull the bullshit to try blacklist these deserving fighters. There's so much talent in that part of the world, and I think they're already underrepresented in these sports in the West.

Well said and who even knows if anything they say about Chechnya is true kinda like Iraq WMDs. There is full scale disinformation campaigns with people we don't like and has been forever.

Anyway. Cool - they seem real supportive of their fighters.

Oh, you are talking about Chechens. I dunno maybe it's their traditions, patriarchy and stuff. Maybe religion - but from what I understand every other Russian Muslims are much more liberal then them in that stuff. Not 100 % sure but I think you can see females in audience at M-1 events in Ingushetia, but maybe they're not from here or from here but not of Ingush origin.

Kadyrov is the most powerful man in the North Caucasus in general, though, don't you think? From what I've read, his influence in Dagestan is increasing (beyond Khasavyurt), though nothing like it is in Chechnya, of course. Given his personal interest in MMA, I'd think it'd be unwise to be an MMA fighter from anywhere in the North Caucasus and piss off Kadyrov. Not good for your career or your family, I'd think.

Khabib attends Fight Nights Global (EFN) events which is owned by the same businessman who kickstarted the Eagles MMA gym, and the if he's in Chechnya its to corner/support an athlete competing there at the WCFA (Akhmat MMA). Either way, it means jack shit for those of us who care about MMA and not the bullshit politics.

Yeah sure, lets topple Kadyrov. It worked so well with Gaddafi and Saddam. Isn't that what they're trying in Syria as well? Make the evil warlords disappear because terrorists... the other guys are just democratic rebels. Then we can complain about why terrorism is expanding, not like you just toppled the guys keeping them in check.

Well as I mentioned seems like Khabib's father openly express his wish to never set his foot in Chechnya and I think (but maybe I'm wrong) Zavurov after the incident was openly saying negative stuff about Chechnya.
And Khabib - you think it's Kadyrov who wants to see him so often on events in Chechnya? Maybe but from what I understand there is not so many people in Russia whom Kadyrov calls his friends. So it doesn't look like poor good guy Khabib is forced to be a friend of evil cruel selfish representer os Satan on Earth Kadyrov.

I guess only Khabib and Kadyrov know how much of their public buddy-buddy image is business and how much is pleasure, but Kadyrov is very rich and very dangerous so as much as I think he's a POS, I try to keep that in mind when I see Caucasian fighters kissing his ass. They have to be cognizant of who he is and adjust their behavior around him accordingly. He seems too capricious and petty to want to get on his bad side.
