Changed my opinion on O'Malley

At the very beginning you could definitely consider me a hater cause the whole schtick and the UFC push.

I'm still not a fan of the schtick, I mean the guy looks fucken ridiculous at least aesthetically represents a whole generation of fentanyl addicted degenerates, and attention seeking narcissists.

That said, to be fair to O'Malley, he only seems to use the image to get him that extra hype, but doesn't actually act like a complete idiot. He doesn't really embrace any heel persona, he just kinda looks silly and cringe, but for the most part comes across as intelligent and calculated both verbally and obviously in his fighting style.

I was still rooting against him vs Yan, but after that fight I quietly told myself that this kid is both pretty good, and pretty entertaining, and is actually probably not the douchebag he looks like. Piotr was clearly triggered at the weigh in and gave him a shove which is always pretty douche, and to Sean's credit he took it like a complete professional and went out and did what he needed to do.

Going into the Sterling fight I was very perplexed about who I wanted to win... on the one hand I still considered the fact that O'Malley as champ will probably bring back the insufferable Conor-type turds to the mma community, but on the other hand I never took Aljo all that seriously as supposedly the top BW... and not to bash him or anything, the guy has some real skills and obviously accomplished a lot, but the thought of him leaving BW as champ didn't really sit well with me either.

At the end of the day, O'Malley is a guaranteed exciting fight regardless of who they match him up with, and his skills are undeniably impressive, and aside from his appearance the guy is really not that obnoxious, the things he says are well measured, he's not just spewing garbage, and he seems pretty realistic and level headed in his outlook. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say I'm a fan, but I can appreciate him and enjoy his fights. He's still very young but he already shows more maturity and mental fortitude than someone like Izzy for example, who I want to like but he just makes it impossible for me.
Cool story nobody cares

im not the one complaining about, “kids these days”????
Not yet, that’s why I said give it 20 years.

And the ones who complained when I was a kid had a point, we were a bunch of pussies compared to their generation just like you’re a bunch of pussies compared to mine.

He managed to change my opinion VS Yan as a Yan fan.

Omally is good but Sterling is overrated AF. Should have lost 3 of his last 4 and can't throw a decent punch if his life depended on it.

O'Malley is definitely polarizing for many fans but he knows that, he seems like a fairly intelligent guy with respect to marketing fights and creating hype. Overall his technical striking is very strong and leads to some exciting matchups in the division, moreso than Sterling would have as champion so in that sense I'm glad he's in the current champion.

what year were you born?

He looks like a Soundcloud rapper turned fighter. He's undeniably talented and he ticks all the boxes of an exciting fighter, but the whole Chito ordeal is what turned me into a hater. Him going around claiming he was still undefeated and not giving Chito props for sending him out on a stretcher. I hope Chito takes his head off in the rematch.

He's the BW Izzy but better TDD.. Omalley is not easy to td anymore. He's not Aldo in prime good at TDD but doesn't suck either. Long reach, great counters, really accurate, 1 shot ko ability

Yeah but at this point who cares. The boomers where already pussies. Gen X/older millenials think they where tougher cause we played outside and said slurs? We played? That's our story of how tough we were? It's been over.

Well, I see you’re right behind me, give it a few years and you’ll be saying get off my lawn.
I couldn’t imagine putting my two hard-working terriers out of a job like that. Today alone they have kept several delivery folks off the lawn, Linda and Pam during their morning fitness walk, and about two dozen squirrels.

It's the chael gimmick which is a pro wrestling gimmick, I find it funny, it's a running joke now

Hopefully he stays focused on fighting because he'll be worth watching. I'd say it's 50/50 though that he'll chase stardom beyond MMA exactly like Conor did.

I can't get past the looks.
