Chael Sonnen's insight: Is Dana protecting Conor?

Good points.

Just remember reading it somewhere. Could very well be wrong.

It might have been a writers take?
It could have been a discussion about interim belts & that might make a T-Feg/Lee fight a better main.
That makes sense

Conor still has fights left on his contract he needs to fulfill
but w/o the clause, if he doesn't fight within a year (or some other designated time period) isn't that contact null and void?

or can UFC then say they offered him a fight, and the contact continues?

maybe i've attached too much importance to the clause....?

"Are you willing to pay more for a UFC product with Conor McGregor?"

Conor just sold 4.5 million PPVs at a $100 cost.

So yes, people are.

And realistically I'd pay $80 for Khabib vs Conor.

If they offer him a fight in writing for whatever contract he was/is on, that covers UFC's end.
That is why they have an amount in the contract terms, even though Conor & anybody else can negotiate a different contract for the bout agreement

So if Conor's last UFC contract he signed was at $3m per plus PPV (just to dumb it down) they can offer him that in writing for T-Feg & if Conor says no, UFC is covered.
Contracts are usually X amount of fights for X amount of years, so that would count as one

The UFC played a big role in putting together that Mayweather fight. And people think they're going to remove his UFC title just a few months later?

Chael is a sherdogger. Literally repeats all the dribble on here.

thanks. i figured my simple theory was too simple to hold water.

i have always figured that they aren't stripping him because if they strip him they cannot hold onto him with the Champions Clause. and if they cannot hold onto him, he may very well go do something else (like his own promotion), and UFC would get no future earnings whatsoever.

maybe that's so far fetched that Chael wouldn't even entertain the notion. i didn't think it was. i thought it was pretty obvious, in fact.

ok, now that i've put it out there, tell me whether i'm crazy or not, sherdoggers.
Even if they strip him he's still under contract and owes them fights so he still can't just bounce to another organization.

People on here are still under the illusion that UFC is a legitimate fighting promotion, as opposed to show business.

I could have sworn that it was title main events vs non title main events, and that titles = more money for the same fight.

I’d love to look these stats up, but I’m not a numbers guy.

I agree that not all big money fights need a title on the line, but I do think that slapping on the “title fight” to a big fight will add extra interest.

I agree
Like I said with a Ferg/Lee fight it helps
but the big PPV's proved its the build up that matters

Ha, UFC wouldn't make it that easy to bolt.
I think he has 2-3 left as of last report(ed)
@Myrddin Wild has that info
I'm assuming the topic.... since it's not "fully" spelled out here... but Dana said pre-Floyd that Conor has 4 fights left on his contract & to me that means that Conor got to rock up & fight in order to get out from his contract.

I mean all other considerationz aside... Mac doesn't want to be bogged down by the UFC to do whatever he wants for the rest of his life.

I hope so! I don't see Rampage taking him down though. If I remember Rashad GNPd him.
Rampage took Bader down I think
If he comes ready to smash he could take anyone in the tournament down rampage always had insane strength
What’s he looking like though is he in shape? Or is this like king mo 2 shape

Can't deny it...
But even with all he's been convicted of,
He's still the man of the hour who is too sweet to be sour
