Could Conor McGregor end Chael's career?

He has a point with regard Conor's existence depending upon people talking about him.
But I think he's just trying to bait McGregor into a trash-talking back-and-forth. I think he's bored of Jones.

Kind of a hyperbolic interpretation of Chael's words. On top of not being into all this cancel craze, he's been friends with DC longer than Conor's been in MMA. Add to it, Chael knows how this business works and he never said it's right or wrong, there are just some realities of the business that are undeniable that Conor might be overlooking.

I don't have any respect for those ESPN gobshites and it's a sad state of affairs that they have any pull in fight business, and I would probably be on Conor's side if he want up against them, but him trying to cancel DC was shitty. And he'd deserve anything he'd get if he kept on that path.

Did you watch the full video? Chael was clearly telling Conor to back off or he might be blackballed.
So if I'm not a lawyer with Conor's contract in my hands, Conor can do whatever he wants?

Pretty sure the UFC has Conor's contract and I'm pretty sure they have lawyers. Or did you think I was personally going to be involved in this?

If you think there is any way, any chance for Conor to simply walk away, you are extremely stupid. When has that ever happened? Why would they let a very profitable fighter just walk away? Why wouldn't they tie him up in lawsuits for a couple decades, until he's too old and drugged out to even put his gloves on?

But you know what? It doesn't matter what I say, or what you think. What will happen will happen. And when Conor can't walk away and fight elsewhere because of his contracts, I hope you'll think of this post and feel like the idiot you are

i'm saying you have no idea if Conor can walk away or not. I'm not making any claims about Conor's contract because I've never seen it. For all you and I know, there could be a provision in there that says Conor can buy out his contract for $5 million or $50 million or it could say he's a slave to UFC. It's pointless to speculate on the contract unless you know.

I watched it, he just says everyone can play the game of trying to take your job away and that Conor underestimates how capable others are in comparison to him. No one's out there trying to get Conor fired, but he is. So others will have to defend themselves and their own, if they have to. It's not really blackballing, he's just playing dumb games, trying to win dumb prizes.

There are no heroes or victims in this story.

Sonnen to McGregor "There are five voices who matter..... if they band together and do not speak about you, your time in the sport is done."

Chael has lost it, sticking up for his fat drunk buddy. McGregor could destroy Chael's career, not the other way around.

Chael did not threaten anyone.

He noted (correctly) that there are about 5 top podcasts that help keep Conor alive in the minds of fans.
They are the ones who reaches most MMA fans, and he merely noted that if they stop talking about him, he disappears from the media.

That is an obvious exaggeration as Chael is famous for, but not entirely untrue.

Let's be real, McGregor has probably brought in close to 1 billion dollars in revenue with all his PPVs. He threatens to walk to another organization, and UFC will cave to firing anyone.
Lol he's a contracted employee he can't go to another org.

yes, its pointless speculating...so you speculate..

It's pointless speculating what the contract says or doesn't say, just assume there is no terms. There's not even any proof Conor is still under contract.

Do people really take Chael and his opinions seriously

Chael can ruin Conor. He has the inside track on the UFC dirt that they have on everyone and all he has to do is drop a dime to uncle Egg to get it done.
Egg isn't happy with Conor right now either. Word on the street is, Conor needs to be brought to heel.

Chael is exaggerating as usual, but there is an ounce of truth. Conor can be his own hype machine, but it will be so much harder when MMA is centralized on UFC and you need to at least partially play UFC's game to remain relevant.

Chael is also subtlety speaking as a UFC shill, telling him to play nice with big biz as his power is waning and UFC will play hardball as he loses influence.

Chael doesn't have the leverage to remove Mcg from relevancy, that's up to dana and he has Mcg's nuts in his throat for 7 years now. IF DC in ESPN stops shilling he might change the view, otherwise i don't think Chael has the power to do it.
