In a way, he can’t help be proud of Kirby. They weren’t just coaches but actually friends. He mentored him and damn near got emotional at a press conference when Kirby left, which is the only time I’ve seen him do that. So I could see him being happy for him finally getting over the mountain. He’s also kicked his ass a few times now so that kinda helps with any animosity lol
