Elections Center-Right and Far-Right arrive first and second in German elections!

If the CDU allied with the AfD they could get straight to work, limit immigration as the people want, & start to repair the economy...but they'd rather spend months trying to form a government and still try to pretend that the AfD don't exist. Missed opportunity.

CDU already pointed out its priority is to see how they are going to fix the vacuum led by America voting themselves into retard, so i don't think CDU will ally themselves with Putinist parties.

AfD should abandon its pro-Russian stance and maybe they could fit some of their anti-immigration agenda in the new government, but for the AfD i suspect sucking Russian cock takes priority over anything else, it works better for them that way, if immigration is fixed they will have nothing else to run on.

I know nothing of German politics. Was this expected, or a sea change? Who was in charge before?

Trump celebrated this on truth and congratulated the Conservative Party. The leader of said party last week called Trump an autocrat and questioned if American democracy would survive under Trump. Merz has also said he will investigate Elon Musk for election interference. Seems like Trump and others just saw the word conservative and got confused?

It’s not rare for President’s..even Trump…to comment affirmatively to the winner of elections. As their heads of state did when Trump won. Even those who talk shit, like Sheinbaum, Macron, or Starmer. Also a notable shit talker before becoming PM was Boris Johnson, Trump congratulated him too and he’s hardly based. He’ll probably give Merz a congratulatory call too..but doesn’t he know that Merz once talked shit?

Also, unlike Musk and Vance…Trump hadn’t commented on the German elections or thrown his support behind AfD..and likely just knows there was a rejection of ruling center left party and that Merz did run a tough on immigration campaign.

There is nothing incorrect or laughable about his post as a right wing and conservative platform DID dominate the German elections.

Just like all the US anti-immigration politicians who are married to immigrants.

You mean illegal immigrants right? Why is it so hard to say bud.

My partners an immigrant and she hates illegal immigration with a passion. Is she racist?

Is it justifiable to get pissed off when you spend 100k on education and visas, work hard to do things the right way when someone else throws their papers off a boat so they can't be identified, claims asylum for economic reasons and they get permanent residency before the people doing it legally then provided a house and welfare?

AfD is not the answer.

But Germany is in serious trouble no matter who is in the bundestag. Their economy shrank in Q4 2024 by 0.2%, and shrank 0.2% on the year. The German government forecast slashed GDP growth projections in 2025 to 0.3%. And inflation, while not particularly bad, is still high 2s, which is above target.

So, celebrate making the right decision. But don't celebrate too hard. It's not like Germany is in a good place to be laughing at anyone right now.

Dear sherbro, how many of those young voters of Linke and other far-left parties are actually ethnically german by your analysis or perception?
I would say definitely most of them. Mostly young people from big cities studying social sciences or photography, the kind with FCK NZIS stickers on their second hand bag.

you are side stepping the fact that AfD is mostly in Eastern Germany. They grew quickly because the base for the people who support them was already present and the other parties don't emphasie East Germany. Also, East Germany has much lower immigration rates than west Germany. So the section of the country with few immigrants is complaining about immigrants even though they don't have them ... while the section of the country with the immigrants is not complaining about them.
That s a very gross oversimplification. Have you ever been in Germany?

What are you not getting? @Sinister is being dishonest on purpose. He gets it. He's just a liar.

In American Terms: Republicans won the election, MAGA party got second place. But no other party acknowledges MAGA as serious, so Republicans are going to work with Democrats and Greens (lol) to keep the establishment intact. The Far-Left AOC Party also just grew with the youth in a major way.

pretty damn obvious what's going on

He's just regurgitating that talking point, literally word for word, from Reddit. It's making the rounds on r/Europe

AfD are mostly eastern germany. It has more to do with mindset than migration.
That‘s an interesting observation and not completely wrong. Immigration is super relevant to East Germans, as anyone who pays attention knows, but it‘s also a statement on identity. For many people living in East Germany, they actually see themselves closer to central european countries like Poland, Czech Republic or Hungary than they do with West Germany. And they know that West Germany has always looked down ok them and completely fucked them in the ass during reunification. So for them AfD is their way of saying we don‘t want your immigration, LGBT and other woke shit, we don‘t want to align ourselves on Nato and cut Russian gas and we don‘t want to fuck ourself over the environment. I am simplifying of course but it‘s kind of like that.
