Cejudo just quit

Bro are you fkn stupid? The image of the poke is nasty and you could clearly see blood in his left eye.

On top of that, he couldve just taken the easy route with a Sterling acting performance and quit when the poke happened that guarantees a NC instead trying to continue and lose a decision.

im sick of refs not giving points for eye pokes. If they did people would stop doing them. All this warning shit is joke. This should have been a NC or majority draw.

100%.

It's an easy system.

If it's an eyepoke, it's a point. That's it. Warnings mean fuck all, and only contribute to an environment where everyone knows they all get 1 free eyepoke.

It's weird though that he didn't chose the DQ/NC but tried to fight through the last part of the round, and he looked really off like he actually struggled too.

On the other hand I agree that he didn't act like a person losing his vision

Bisping and that ginger pirate have fought with only one eye and had success.

If the fighter gets poked so bad they can’t see, give them an eyepatch so the opponent can’t repeat the foul in the same eye and let the boyz bang bros

I'd quit too if I couldn't see while fighting a high level striker.

Seems like Henry was trying to the Chris Weidman way getting out of a fight and having it back fire on you
What a weird thing to say Weidman won his last fight via double eye poke that went to a technical Dec, Song's more like him here.

One of the scariest things I can think of is blindness

If that happened to me I’d probably quit. When Belal got eyepoked in the first Edwards matchup it was actually scary, I don’t think I’ve heard a fighter scream in pain more then Belal did that night.
That being said Bisping (whom I disliked while he was active) is a brave brave brave motherfucker…dude gave up a body part…his face..for this sport
AND still fought after. Shits crazy. Respect to Shara too.

In Songs case it was multiple free pokes. There were already others not as bad. That one was intense and was what you could in the ref manual for taking a point.

When you don't get the free eye poke people will be more careful and train to ensure they don't do it.

I can understand a warning for a glance. But the full on poke needs to be a point.

I don't think Henry would have won, but he didn't exactly get a fair shake here.

When they zoomed on his corner before the 4th was to start he clearly had blood in his left eye. That poke was nasty. Maybe pulled some veteran shit but the poke was real just as the fight was getting good.

This. Football, basketball - if the penalty/foul occurs, it gets called. Therefore it encourages players to exercise self-discipline so they don't get penalized. And the fact that after the timeout, that Song spent the entire rest of the round with his fingers outstretched and wasn't warned was inexcusable. When they call time for an eyepoke, the replay review ref should immediately watch, and if it was anything avoidable, it's an automatic deduction. At least with nutshots, there's a level of protection there. Eyes are completely unprotected and they need to take this shit more seriously.
