Cejudo just quit

Personally I think he showed heart. Bad eye poke, uses his full time to recover but wasn’t able to. He asked the ref how much time was left in the round and it was just more than a minute. So he figured he would fight that minute and get his minute break and maybe his eye sight would come back. It didn’t. So he didn’t want risk getting knocked out. If he wanted to he could have quit and it would have been a no contest.

I can't stand Cejudo any more than the next person, but it's unfair to be fouled multiple times and have the fight end in a technical decision. Cejudo was robbed of the chance to win, and it just doesn’t make sense. Essentially, he's being punished for being fouled. The fight should unquestionably be a no contest, and at very least a point deduction. There has to be punishment for the fighter committing the foul, and stopping the fight early isnt a punishment.

It was definitely a legit eye poke and I believe his vision was impaired by it.

But have we seen fighters take similar eye pokes or even more devastating ones?

The answer is yes. And did they continue to fight without complaining? Without saying "I can't see"

The answer is yes. Fighters have shown more heart in the past. Not given up so easily. So I think we can question Henry Cejudo's heart here. And we can say he quit.

He may have had legit reason to do so, but then other fighters in the past have fought with the same issue.

Bisping was blind in one eye and still fought. So there is something we can say about Cejudo's heart. It's not the same as it once was. He wanted a way out.

Thank you

Triple "I Can't" C... ouch.

Yeah. It's crazy how much his legacy has been tarnished since returning. He looked like a GOAT when he retired. All that mystique is gone.

No he didn't. Lost to DJ, lost to Benavidez, struggled vs Formiga and junk at 125. Moved up to get the title that was vacant vs Moraes who turned out to have a bad gas tank ontop of a glass chin and then defended vs an undeserved, washed ass Cruz. Anyone who thought his resume was looking GOAT worthy is a goof. That gold medal really fucks with peeps judgment.

Haha looks like Henry thought he was going to win
He was hedging his bets on that point deduction, it backfired. Should have gone for the DQ and not let the round end. Hope he still fights though. Who knows at this point, he hyped himself up so much Dana is prolly pissed at paying a premium for him.

Pretty sure all these people that think you should continue fighting after a double eye poke and bleeding are degenerate gamblers that lost money.
I'd be willing to bet the same, what odds are you giving?
{<shrug}

probably was a quit... but was it the right call?

Either risk getting KTFOed with the way the fight was going... or lose under the narrative that he lost via eye poke bad rule exploitation. He made his choice

Sadong is a dirty motherfucker, I hope he gets KO the next time.

Father Time.
In your 20s you can afford to skip some
Workouts, and still retain your top form. In the late 30s, a few skipped workouts set you back, let alone sitting out for a couple of years!

Add to the fact he is fighting in the lower weight classes, where technique, speed, power, endurance, and cardio need to be in tip top form.

It disoriented CCC , with an impaired eye guess seems didn’t know what todo and did not want to get beat further. Hindsight Cejudo maybe could have should’ve but didn’t. Age is wearing like on everyone. Rest recover and then evaluate next steps. Bad luck but gotta move on. Not really a yippee type of win either.
