Rumored Cejudo contemplating retirement (again)

Well, he did leave them in the lurch. Still, if he's willing to take one or two fights prior to a title fight, I think they'd sign him. But I don't think he wants that, so they are at am impasse.

He deserves a title shot. The guy wanted to go find love and start a family. Meanwhile the guy who abused every possible PED leading to a two year suspension is being gifted a title shot after getting his butt kicked by Sandhagen.

In the very same statement he unretired again by saying nevermind, i'll fight Holloway in addition to Volk

"However, Henry Cejudo also admitted that he would be willing to take an alternate fight at featherweight in the meantime. That alternate fight would be a showdown with Max Holloway.

“[A Max Holloway fight] would be the only fight prior to a Volkanovski fight [I’d take]."

I'm assuming that he was banking on getting an instant title shot.

Not sure why given the UFC's reaction to when he quit.

I understand the logic though. He's probably the worst match up for Sterling in the division.
He was banking on an instant title shot at 145 or a fight with Max Holloway lmao

Unless I misread the quote, he explicitly said those are the only fights he would take

My god did he mishandled his career after the Cruz fight. Retires at the top, doubles down on the cringe, calls out EVERYONE, Shevchenko, Ngannou lol, Ryan Garcia (didn't he say he would go boxe?) Of course not, he became a joke, of course it fell through. People started forgetting about him. You can't keep the interest alive by doing Instagram videos of you with a Burger King crown saying you the double champ "bend the knee".

He really thought he had the bigger end of the stick, but when the UFC didn't even show interest in his return, he knew he fucked up. At the end he was literally begging Dana for a fight, can you believe that? He was double champ couple of months before that. Now he's back on the retirement talk again. Probably because you NEED to strike the iron when it's red hot, and this idiot literally let it cool down completely and he doesn't understand why it's not bending his way.

It's sad cause I feel hes supremely talented and could've cemented himself as a goat when he was at the top of the hill.

For real I don't even care for his comeback, you come back or you don't, just stop talking about it, just do it.

Also, #neverforget:

Dude just wants to keep getting gifted titleshots or fight someone he thinks is easy with a good recognition in O'Malley.

He isn't fighting a tough fight without it being for a title.

It's a shame they didn't try to make the Holloway vs Cejudo fight happen. It's also a shame Cejudo never stuck around at 135lbs to fight some of the real top guys like Yan. Honestly Cejudo's whole career in many ways was a big waste, most people felt he lost to Mighty Mouse the 2nd time too.

He f'ed up Cruz and Dillashaw though

I still think hes a top dog, and douchebag dana doing him dirty

Henry’s retirement might go down as one of the most miscalculated plays in all of MMA history.

hahaha

By not giving him an immediate 145 pound title fight? In what world does that clarify as doing him dirty? He spent the last 2 and a half years bitching about fighter pay then expects to walk back into a title fight in a weight class he's never fought at? Then he proceeds to throws throws a tantrum when he rightfully gets ignored. Definition of delusional.

im not arguing with that, man.
but i still think hes a top 5 dog in the lower divisions, its a shame we dont get to see him fight. i guess its his own fault too.

I wish he would've hung around longer. Yeah, his cringy schtick sucks but the guy is a helluva fighter.
