Rumored Cejudo contemplating retirement (again)

If he does Again it better be permanent. Either get in or get out. None of us care enough for him to try and dangle these things for interest building

I don't understand why the UFC hates Cejudo so much. He should have been able to walk into a title shot. He destroyed the current challenger in seconds. Olympic gold medalist, two division champion. He even has Ali as his manager, so what is the deal?

so what is the deal?

I guess it's because he's a midget he's extremely obnoxious and very few people are interested in seeing him fight.

edit: I know people like to make fun of Tito's huge head but I believe that Henry's is even bigger compared to his body. He's just unpleasant that's all. I respect him as a fighter and I respect his accomplishments but I have no interest in seeing him fight again.

Well, he did leave them in the lurch. Still, if he's willing to take one or two fights prior to a title fight, I think they'd sign him. But I don't think he wants that, so they are at am impasse.

When he retired he was the highest paid BW on the roster so Ali did his job. Henry over-valued himself and halted all the momentum he had. His retirement was a disaster and he gave away his belt.

He left for a chick just as he was establishing his championship cred. He kept teasing coming back when the top of his natural division is on fire and teased going up to fight another dominant champ who still had good challenges at the time. Now he's throwing a tantrum because THAT (active) champ has cleared out all his obvious contenders and wants to cement his greatness by going up to LW.

He's a great fighter and I personally love watching all weight classes fight (for men) but I don't love Henry, Conor, and Jon talking shit from the sidelines.

Would I be opposed to the UFC giving him an instant shot at 135? No, but I totally get why they wouldn't. He's not gonna GSP 145 without earning it either, especially not when Volk holds the cards and has been dominating.

So Henry is unwilling to take a single fight to earn a title shot at 145...and to give the UFC some indication that he wouldn't be 'one and done' and potentially throw away a THIRD belt?

Isn't he already retired? How do you retire from retirement? lol

It's most likely the fact they are worried he would win the title then not defend.

He came out of the retirement the same way Trump declassified those documents. Just think it and it's true apparently.

I'm assuming that he was banking on getting an instant title shot.

Not sure why given the UFC's reaction to when he quit.

I understand the logic though. He's probably the worst match up for Sterling in the division.

You probably shouldn't be on an mma forum if you hate elite mma fighters because they are short and have big heads. Nobody outside of O'Malley is a big name in the BW division. It's loaded with talent but not stars. So the promotional value of Cejudo doesn't make sense. Nobody is jumping out of their seat for Sterling or Yan outside of the true fans of the sport.

What do they mean again? He hasnt fought, not even a scheduled fight that got canceled, it hasnt unretired, period.
