Law CBS pays out (settles) for election interference

My argument is they did nothing wrong and so far no one ITT has demonstrated exactly what they did wrong.

Like I said its standard journalistic practice to edit interviews for clarity so I think Fox News also did nothing wrong in by editing the Trump interview, the point of bringing it up is to expose the obvious hypocrisy.
They paid out 8 digits for doing nothing wrong. Were your parents related?

Trump is petty and spiteful so plays their own game until he beats them at it. It will probably just be the new norm now, both sides ruthless in a perverse feminine way.

Because there's an $8 billion dollar merger on the line, $16 million is chump change for them in light of the stakes.
You can't expect people to understand how many millions are in a billion, just like you can't expect them to understand that legal expenses are tax deductible.

Yup, the question is why would they settle if it is just Trump bullying, while FOX is happy to fight Newsom. CBS doesn’t want details to come out, FOX does.

Uh no.

CBS in the past few years is run by the successor(?) of its previous owner. Through the rise of digital media services CBS valuation has tanked. Who are also in the process of seeking a buyer.

This was a bribe that CBS agreed to.

I think a lot of people are wondering why the Democrats, in conjunction with msm, have spent the last 10 years fighting against the evil criminal Trump, always seem to fall short and allow Trump to reign victorious in virtually every battle.

And now, when there seems to be an overwhelming consensus that CBS did nothing wrong, this could be an open and shut case, they roll over and play dead over a technicality. No fight, just roll over and let this bastard Trump secure another victory.

Why are the Democrats such pitful losers?
You still seem confused..it was a payoff...plain and simple...

As to trump winning it's pretty fair to say that you don't count his "losses" and just glaze him for his "winnings"...his immigration and anti trans agenda is popular with his base...they seem happy to overlook the disgusting amount of corruption, the selling off the country to the tech bros, the undermining of checks and balance etc etc...

Take a look at this thread with their supporters, almost in defiance, refusing to acknowledge reality. That's their base. They're catering to retards.
Right , it’s ridiculous. Why they change their policy if it was just for the merger which is a stupid talking point .

It’s admission of wrong doing

Mods can we get a Trump Wins Again prefix so we can keep track of all his victories?

Paramount Global and CBS agreed on Tuesday to pay President Donald Trumpa sum that could reach north of $30 million to settle the president’s election interference lawsuit against the
Trump will receive $16 million upfront. This will cover legal fees, costs of the case, and contributions to his future presidential library or charitable causes, to be determined at Trump’s discretion.

There is an anticipation that there will be another allocation in the mid-eight figures set aside for advertisements, public service announcements, or other similar transmissions, in support of conservative causes by the network in the future, Fox News Digital has learned. With these considerations, CBS would pay well in excess of the $15 million ABC paid Trump to settle a defamation lawsuit last year. Current Paramount management disputes the additional allocation.

Sources close to the situation told Fox News Digital that CBS has agreed to update its editorial standards to install a mandatory new rule. Going forward, the network will promptly release full, unedited transcripts of future presidential candidates’ interviews. People involved in the settlement talks have referred to this as the "Trump Rule."

The lawsuit alleged CBS News deceitfully edited an exchange Harris had with "60 Minutes" correspondent Bill Whitaker, who asked her why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn't "listening" to the Biden administration. Harris was widely mocked for the "word salad" answer that aired in a preview clip of the interview on CBS' "Face the Nation."

However, when the same question aired during a primetime special on the network, Harris had a different, more concise response. Critics at the time accused CBS News of deceitfully editing Harris' "word salad" answer to shield the Democratic nominee from further backlash leading up to Election Day. -Faux

All the libs who were duped by this into believing Kamala was a good candidate should rejoice and embrace Trump's willingness to fight on their behalf.
That’s wonderful

Right , it’s ridiculous. Why they change their policy if it was just for the merger which is a stupid talking point .

These are frivolous lawsuits Trump is using to benefit himself by wielding the presidency and federal government. So yes, ABC and CBS did show cowardice by settling. Zuckerberg on the other hand has always been a cuck.

Some of the lib cope here is hilarious. They like to talk about "freedom of the press". If your network is clearly being manipulated and forced to push a leftist agenda, to the point you have to manipulate footage (with proof now) is it really a free press?

There will be books written about how corrupt and fucked up the whole left wing media/political spectrum was during this time and all of their lies.

Oh wait there already is LOL.

Correct, media outlets engage in editing like this all the time. The law Trump sued under is a TX consumer protection law and isn’t even applicable to this situation.

Ironically, CBS didn’t break any law with their editing, but if they are paying off Trump to influence the FCC’s approval of their Skydance merger, that would be illegal.
CT’s for thee….

I literally said “if.” I have no idea if their upcoming merger is their motivation for settling, or if they’re trying to buy Trump’s favor in that.

What we can say, pretty objectively, is that CBS’s editing wasn’t unusual, didn’t run afoul of any laws that I’m aware of, that law Trump sued under isn’t even particularly applicable to this issue, and they judge shopped the case to begin with.

The rambling clip was in the ad they released to promote the interview, no reason to think it was in response to public pressure.
Then why change it come air time?

Because Trump is using the leverage of the Oval Office to strongarm them into settling, specifically Paramount is looking to merge with Skydance and they need the approval of Trump's FCC.

Its not a conspiracy though, its widely reported that the merger was a huge factor in deciding whether or not to settle.
Trump has no obligation to approve the merger after CBS pays out for their misconduct. These are two separate things.

But again they didn't do that, the ad for the segment included the rambling answer.
Again CBS is settling because Trump is using the leverage he has over their merger to strongarm them to settle. You can ignore that but that's obviously a piece of the story here and that you were unaware is quite telling.
I could show the same level of denial as you are here as well. If you want to cling to a conspiracy theory, maybe I can too then. How about CBS only settled because they didn't want it to go to trial, as there would be much more damaging info found during discovery. You should show more consistency in your views against biased media instead of treating CBS' loss as a personal defeat.

Who is confused here?
I never disputed this is a payoff lol.

As to Trump winning, it's pretty fair to say the lot of you bums are in total denial as to why this keeps happening.

This is a win for Trump and it is directly the result of the ineptitude and incompetence of his opposition.

My post highlighted what a bunch of losers the Democrats are and your reply is a testament to how utterly stupid the Democrats are
