You mean the free press? That thing that is so vital to a democratic society that it’s enshrined in the 1st Amendment? Of course I defend the free press.
Look, we should always be striving to have better, more objective, more factual media. A lot of the criticisms today are fair—but not new. Some media was criticized salacious or superficial back in colonial times, it certainly was during the height of yellow journalism in the 1800s… none of this is new. The internet has brought us more media than ever before, and the ways we consume media might be different—but these concerns aren’t new, and they don’t outweigh the value of free press now and they never have.
Your solution as I understan it is to allegedly ignore all media and rely solely on your own subjective experience, and that’s a very problematic way to go about it. We should be defending the free press but constantly working to improve it.
