Cauliflower Ear Question.

It's funny I got cauliflower ear literally after my first month of training..immediately went in and drained it because my wife was pissed.

I remember when I started about a year and half ago my ears were super sore and my fingers and especially my ribs. Now only my neck hurts but nothing else. Ears are fine.

Wonder what changed. No idea.

A lot of people don’t get it, I got it in my right ear after pulling my head out of a triangle and it pretty much “broke” my ear in half. It filled with a ton of blood and fluid over the next couple days and hurt like a son of a bitch, it hardened up after about a week and a half and now just looks weird. It’s not all huge and stuff but definitely looks much different than my left ear. I had only been training a couple weeks.

His name is Shaun "The Bully" Asher. Pretty sure he has a fighter profile on Sherdog......I can connect you if you'd like, so you can call him a retard to his face but I doubt you could to his face.

Well this got interesting...

Shaun Asher vs sansnom

I’ll watch that even on ppv

But to answer you question ts

Cauliflower ear is a sign of poor technique Or it just means you like to stick your head into another man crouch a bit too much

I'm just saying, it depends on your style. If you're real agressive with your head or tie up a lot, you're probably going to get more cauliflower ear. If you avoid tying up on your feet and like to stay on the outside there is probably less likelyhood of getting it.

It funny being out with him and someone seeing his ears. They'll say "where did you wrestle" and he'll be like "I've never wrestled in my life" and then he gets this dumbfounded look from them lol. Ironically enough, wrestling is his strongest asset in the cage!

LOL no it doesn't.

Outside of a tiny hardcore MMA-bubble, people will think you're a mutant freak. If you have really bad ears like RDA, your dating life is pretty much over. If you're lucky you will find someone you can marry.

You never know in Brazil might have cauliflower ear fetish

I think it's about genetics and bad training like grappling without protection etc. I have friends from Europe that trained with Gus and they all said Gus is grappling to the death all time after Phil Davis defeat.

And here is the transformation !

That triangle escape to be one of the more common ways it happens.

I got my mine from shooting for a takedown but I can definitely feel my ears getting dragged when I try to escape from a triangle by pulling my head through their legs. I need to posture up sooner and prevent the triangle that way but I find myself having to escape out the legs last minute Fedor style nearly every day.

I also have a teammate who I feel like is going to fuck up my ears every time we are just drilling triangles. He just doesn't give a fuck and just shoots his legs past my ears and locks up the triangle so fast and hard with my ear caught in there sometimes. I know it happens a lot but he is literally the only person that consistently does that every single rep when we are just fucking drilling. Lol. Fucking asshole. I gotta wear my headgear more often

Transformation is insane. His head is twice now compared to boyish Gus. And look at chin size difference. Maybe Gus used to like eating kangaroo meat back in the day. Who knows

I got mine from shooting in for a takedown. It happened in less than a second.

No poor technique or homo shit there. It happens when you train.

One of main reasons to get cauliflower ears is having hard ears. The softer your ears, the lower the chance of getting cauliflower.

Sure just like a broken nose happens when you train...

However in a lot of cases it’s poor technique or ppl sticking their head in another man crouch for too long

Also rubbing ears before training to get some blood flow going could help prevent some of the injuries

please, i'd touch this cletus lookin goober up with my jab and ping a right down the pipe.

All it takes is one hard strike to the ear or to have your ear rubbed really hard against someone's body while grappling. I got mine shooting for a takedown. The dude sprawled and my ear rubbed really hard on either his arm or his body while we were both scrambling. I immediately felt numbness and like my ear was burning.

It fills up with blood. If you don't drain it with a syringe then the blood will harden up and your ear will stay looking like that. Or you can try to drain it like I did. My ear still looks a little funny but at least I drained the big bulge out of it. Now I usually wear headgear when grappling but it can still happen when i am boxing or doing MMA sparring without the headgear
How long before it hardens

Your friend seems to have a third nipple.

If he heard me say that though...
