Cauliflower Ear Question.

But I thought chicks dig it? <Goldie11>
i remember there was a wrestling competition going on at my college, wrestlers from all over Canada. so the last night they were here a buncha them went out saturday nite to have some fun. my buddy was competing so we went out with him and lemme tell u...ewww fucking disgusting. fresh puffy oozing out cauliflower ears allover the place, the whole bar... some so bad it made my eyes water just looking at them. it was gross af

Yes, but I think strikes with small gloves and elbows in MMA make a big difference: MUCH more external damage. Just look at how fucked up MMA-fighters faces are after fights compared to kickboxers and boxers.
well, I am no cauliflower expert. :-D but I would say still we would be seeing a lot more cauliflowers among muay thai guys or strikers in general.

I noticed that during the Lawler vs Dos Anjos fight that
RDA had the worst looking cauliflower ear I ever seen
so what i'm trying to figure out is do all fighters develop
it or some are lucky enough not to develop it and go there
whole careers with ears intact.

Anyone who gets blunt trauma to the ear significant enough to cause a hematoma can get it.
Cartilage doesn't have a great blood supply, so if the hematoma is not drained in a timely fashion, you'll get necrosis of the cartilage and deformed/ratty looking ear filled with fibrous (scar) tissue.

It is gross when it is fresh. When the ear is first impacted and it fills up with blood and appears purple from bruising, yeah, that is gross. You have about a week to drain the blood before it hardens up.

It is not so nasty after a week. I always drained mine but my ear still looks a little funny. I train with a lot of guys who didn't drain theirs and just left them that way and they don't care what anyone thinks. They are all married and successful people for the most part

It is the difference in gloves. It can still happen with boxing gloves but much more likely to happen with MMA gloves or from a grappling situation where the ear gets pulled or rubbed

whoooops

I know I wouldn't say jack shit

I thought you were a sherdogger though
<{UberTS}>

His name is Shaun "The Bully" Asher. Pretty sure he has a fighter profile on Sherdog......I can connect you if you'd like, so you can call him a retard to his face but I doubt you could to his face.

They live near each other?

Depends if they use protection while training. I have a friend who refuses to wear one during training because he actually wants them. For the most part though they can be avoided by wearing this

It also depends on how you grapple. I wrestled my whole life, a lot of the time without headgear, and I don't have it.

and what exactly is he going to do? go to jail or pay for the rest of his life after getting sued for assault?

Hate to say it but he definitely looks like he has a disability. There I said it. And I could say it to his face no problem. Connect me.

no women will ever want to look at you unless they are fighters themselves or you have an absolutely perfect personality or something.
Not true, some girls like bad boy/tough guy types. Cauli adds to that image.

LOL no it doesn't.

Outside of a tiny hardcore MMA-bubble, people will think you're a mutant freak. If you have really bad ears like RDA, your dating life is pretty much over. If you're lucky you will find someone you can marry.

It's the permanent version of a TapOut t-shirt.

I remember a gym I used to train in all the TapOut bros actively wanted cauliflower ears.

Not really. I got mine shooting for a takedown. The guy defended and my ear rubbed really hard on his body or maybe it was his arm during the takedown attempt.

All I know is it took a millisecond to go from having a perfect ear to having an ear bulging with blood.
I don't doubt you. I was mostly trolling really. I don't like people getting a hold of my head for that reason. It happens but I try not to make it habit. I've been blessed with tiny ears but I'm afraid of getting it 1 day

He hasn't wrestled in an official capacity his entire life. We grew up in the poorest county in the state. No school had wrestling, football etc. just basketball, track, baseball and golf. His is from training.

Nah but it's easy to be a warrior over a keyboard. And the term "retard" is very offensive to some.

It's easy to be a badass over a keyboard. It's hard to be a badass when it's time to be a badass.

I'm just saying, it depends on your style. If you're real agressive with your head or tie up a lot, you're probably going to get more cauliflower ear. If you avoid tying up on your feet and like to stay on the outside there is probably less likelyhood of getting it.

I always judge a man by his knuckles anyone can fuck up their ears
