I was reading about Rich Franklin's routine and although it was vague he mentioned that he uses alot of High Intensity Training that mimics his fights i.e. 5 min. of high-intensity (think "pushing yourself to your limits") work with 1min-1min30sec. rest in between the 5 min. rounds. He mentioned doing some distance running but it seemed like the bulk of his cardio conditioning came from intense sparring and HIT intervals. From what I have read most fighters employ some combination of HIT intervals with some sort of jogging program. Hope this helps.
