Car recommendations

A used Honda or Toyota. Hard to say since you never really gave us a true budget. How much you can afford monthly is not a accurate indicator.

LX470 or 99-2007 Land Cruiser. Can be found cheap these days and will last forever. Best built SUV of all time.

Whatever you do, don't buy something new or newish. The used car market is expected to plummet so you'll lose a ton of $$ in depreciation.

Ok Sherbros, my old ass car finally shit the bed and I'm now in the market for something new.

I had an older Expedition with 125k plus miles on it and my intake manifold just failed and now its leaking coolant. It's a 700 dollar fix and the car is maybe worth a grand.

Looking to get a small SUV or even a midsized sedan.

So what do you Sherbros drive and/or recommend.

I'm open to leasing or buying and am looking to keep payments under 300 a month.
I know this is an old ass thread but I'm currently looking for a similar type vehicle and Mazda CX-5 is on my list as well as others. What did you end up buying and how has it worked out over the years?

I got a Tucson back then, now have a Santa Fe. No issues with either.

Buy an old crown vic and make it look like a police car and then people will think you're a cop

and then you'll fool other cops who will check you out and probably pull you over with the smallest incident lol. i'd never drive a car that looks like a cop's.

Just bought a car this weekend.

I had 10 year old Mazda 3, put 170,000 miles on it without a single problem outside of normal wear and tear type stuff. I've owned Toyotas and stuff before but nothing was even close to as reliable as the Mazda. Bought a 2018 Mazda3.

I just need a reliable commuter car that's pretty good on gas and this fits the bill. Hoping in a few years electric/hybrid will be a better option, I just don't feel like it's quite there yet. Can't recommend mazda highly enough though, I probably could have gotten another couple years out of it with some minor repairs but just didn't want to put the money in.
I'm a fellow Mazda 3 driver and I love my car. Super reliable, great gas mileage, and really cheap for how great it is

I've also rented a Mazda SUV, I think it was the cx-5, and the oil light came on when I was stuck in the middle of the desert. I had to drive it like that for another hour in 100 degree heat before I could find a gas station to buy oil.

Any car that can still be dependable with no oil in the hot summer has my vote.
