I don't know why so many people are surprised that the movie is selling very well. TLJ did well over a billion, and it was total dogshit. I didn't like Cpt Marvel very much, but it's not TLJ bad

Still though, it was a big step down for the MCU compared to Infinity War. It's on par with Ant Man 2, but the big difference between the two is that no one is heralding Ant Man as the face of the MCU going forward.

I'm not excited with Captain anti-charisma leading the charge post Endgame, but maybe with better directors/writers, and more time in the role, Brie can carry the torch. I'm not optimistic.

CAPTAIN MARVEL Stays No. 1 with $69 Million, Soars to $760 Million Globally

Captain Marvel easily stayed No. 1 in its second weekend, earning another $69 million in North America and $120 million overseas for a mighty worldwide total of $760 million.

The pic's domestic total stands at $266 million; the foreign tally is $494 million.

The first female-led superhero pic from Marvel Studios and Disney — starring Brie Larson — is now assured of ultimately earning $1 billion. And it's already passed up a slew of superhero pics.

In North America, where it declined less than 55 percent, Captain Marvel scored one of the top 20 second weekends of all time as more females turned out.

Elsewhere, Paramount's animated family pic Wonder Park, costing as much as $100 million to produce before marketing, opened in second place with a dismal $16 million from 3,838 cinemas. The silver lining: it had been tracking to take in only $8 million to $12 million. Nevertheless, the movie stands to be a major loser unless it does big business overseas and holds up exceptionally well in the U.S.

CBS Films' teen drama Five Feet Apart followed in third place with an estimated $13.2 million from 2,803 theaters, nearly double its modest production budget of $7 million.

That movie made way more the first weekend though so they would have had to make way more the 2nd weekend than captain marvel to not get the same % drop.

Kevin Feige coming out yesterday confirming that Captain Marvel is gonna be the face of Marvel after End Game means I'm done with the franchise.

Film Gob indicates his source who has connections within Marvel and Disney told him that a number of the Avengers cast actors “are unhappy with Brie Larson being the face of the MCU going forward.” He says his source names one actress. However, he doesn’t actually name the actress, but the video heavily implies that actress is Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, as the video zooms in on her as he discusses who is unhappy.

Indeed, thats how they usually do it. Infinity War came out almost a month later in China than in the US. Which is also why this movie has gotten so much money in such a short time.

The reason they did this with this movie though is twofold I believe: they wanted to get people hungry for End Game (because of Infinity War) to come and get their Marvel fix + with End Game coming out next month they dont want to have Captain Marvel running in China and End Game in the US at the same time.

There being 0 competition the last 2 weeks also helps of course. In Australia the first weekend it was the ONLY movie available to see in any cinema (which is recorded and shown with proof).
