box office mojo is saying yesterday was a 69.1% drop from last Friday
Which is "pretty much on-par for other Marvel films".

EDIT: Just so everybody's on the same page on this particular statistic, the second Friday week-to-week dropoff for the rest of the MCU:

Ant-Man -68.0%
Ant-Man and the Wasp -75.0%
Avengers -63.8%
Avengers: Age of Ultron -74.9%
Avengers: Infinity War -70.4%
Black Panther -62.1%
Captain America: Civil War -74.0%
Captain America: The First Avenger -69.4%
Captain America: The Winter Soldier -67.9%
Captain Marvel -69.1%
Doctor Strange -54.2%
Guardians of the Galaxy -67.5%
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 -70.6%
Iron Man -57.8%
Iron Man 2 -70.5%
Iron Man 3 -71.4%
Spider-Man: Homecoming -73.2%
The Incredible Hulk -69.0%
Thor -64.1%
Thor: Ragnarok -60.5%
Thor: The Dark World -67.0%

The median value for these: -69%. Captain Marvel is exactly in the middle.

I noticed that as well. On the continuity piece, I also was wondering why they would proceed with nuking NYC before paging Ms. Marvel
Yeah, if you even know she exists you'd play that card several times before this.

That movie made way more the first weekend though so they would have had to make way more the 2nd weekend than captain marvel to not get the same % drop.
While you are technically correct, you should also know that, when it comes to comic book movies, having a big opening isn't really correlated to a larger second weekend drop off. Here's the chart:

I'm too dumb to understand that chart xD My brain hurts from looking at it. Its official though, its the number 1 movie in the world.

What it shows is how the opening weekend and second-weekend percentage drop are related. If there was a strong correlation you'd expect to see the dots form some sort of pattern. The simplest would be if they clustered into a line shape. But here there is no real pattern; they seem random. This means there is not any strong correlation, so the second weekend drop off must be related to some other factor. Here's a good picture to help explain:
Correlation%202.png

So this tells us that the relative strength of Captain Marvel's opening won't really affect what it does this weekend. Or at least not by itself, there would have to be some other factors that come into play, and those factors are probably complex and difficult to quantify.

8/10. Liked it a lot. I've been pretty so so on a lot of Marvel origin movies and this was one of my favorites for sure.

Idk... I'm still sorta like: What's little Carol gonna do against Thanos.

On her own.? get her ass whipped like everyone else.

With all the remaining avengers and who knows what else... a titanic beat down of epic proportion...

I mean you do realize comic book fans expect a universal team effort to beat Thanos and the stones yes? It’s going to happen and they won’t let us down... I have faith...

Now I'm seriously wondering how many people didn't really dislike the movie, but were just influenced by their dislike of Brie.

Does anyone here hate Brie Larson and like the movie...

Or liked Brie Larson and hated the movie?
Prior to her anti-white male campaign I liked her. She has nice boobies and was pretty cool in The Room. I even liked her in Kong, even though there she was a glorified damsel in distress which is hilarious given al her feminist point of view. As for Cap Marvel I could feel her smugness through the screen.

Yes, then Thor said that contact signaled the Earth was ready for a whole new level of war. If two of the largest empires in Marvel already had encountered them, why would that line even come up? Continuity is a big thing to me and why I stopped reading comics. The MCU up until this has had very good continuity. Forcing this character into it made me sad.

I was looking forward to this movie too, I was a fan of Ms. Marvel. Now I hope Rogue kills her and becomes a badass.

At this point, the Skrulls are not really an empire. They're fugitives. As far as the Kree goes, they weren't hostile to Earth. Certainly they didn't view Earth as a threat to them. Likely the same could be said of any alien species who was familiar with Earth. We weren't worth their attention until they noticed that we were dicking around with an Infinity Stone.

Fury didn't make that call. Curly Bill Brocius and the "World Council" did. He must not have told them about her and the pager. So it could be said that he would have used the pager if he deemed the situation unwinnable, but the Chitauri attack only lasted about half an hour or so before the Avengers locked it down.

Saw the movie tonight. I enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect, but I'd say it was above the "mediocre" ratings I'd seen. Some good, some bad.

I hated that the Skrulls were sympathetic. No way. I'm far from the authority on Skrulls, but I never read a story where they weren't the villains.

They made the Skrulls Refugees and had the Kree call them Terrorists , hmmm I wonder what they were going for there.

All the negative talk I dont get. Was a a decent flick ...... maybe not Ragnorak good but pretty good.

this movie doesnt deserve the tlj treatment, it's a decent addition to the MCU imo.
True. TLJ was 1 director that hated star wars an was bent on destroying the series which he did. This was a movie that had this SJW hype and they played it up to get money hoping it would do like Black Panther. The movie itself was nothing like that tho

Kevin Feige coming out yesterday confirming that Captain Marvel is gonna be the face of Marvel after End Game means I'm done with the franchise.

Just got back from seeing it with the family probably my least favorite MCU film.
It was entertaining but the action was dull and most of the jokes fell flat.
I rate it about the same as Thor 2

Saw it today after most of the group I usually go to Marvel movies with weren't interested in this one last week and then all but one of those who were coming dropped out. Thought it was ok, nothing really to write home about which is why I've spoken to no one at home about said film.

marvel will beat thanos with manhate energy

Thanos grabs Carol around the neck with the charred gauntlet. She is wearing her red mohawk helmet. "Foolish terran, to think a little man could kill me". Suddenly feeble god Thor stabs Stormbreaker into his leg. Carol pulls the helmet back, "I am no man, duh" and then punches his head off.

It would lose the 'princess killing an evil witch' deal unless Carol is promoted to Disney princess in the next month.

Civil War had one of the biggest drops in the MCU....wtf? Didn't it have good word of mouth?

In retrospect if they just titled it "Avengers: Civil War" it probably would have made at least a few hundred million more.

In the theater, I said "What a waste of a villain"

My sister was sitting next to me and said "Yeah" in a frustrated voice.

That was so corny.

After my family and I saw the film we went to EB games (gamestop for the seppos) and they were selling captain Marvel oven mitts which gave me a chuckle.
