Ronda Rousey Reveals Her Plan to Win Captain Marvel Role
Ronda Rousey is one of the most celebrated fighters in the world and she isn't pulling any punches when it comes to her career in Hollywood. The 28-year-old MMA fighter and UFC Women's Bantamweight champion has taken on progressively bigger roles from Expendables 3 to Entourage to Furious 7, and it's all moving toward one major goal.
"I'm really looking forward to doing my first starring role opposite Mark Wahlberg," said Rousey, who is starring with Wahlberg in Mile 22. "Hopefully by the time
Captain Marvel comes around, I will have enough experience and skills in the field for them to really seriously consider me."
If Beyonce has anything to say about it, Rousey would have her pick of the litter in terms of movie roles. The pop diva played Rousey's viral speech on self-worth during a concert last month. "When I heard that Beyonce even knew that I existed I was like, 'What! She even knows that I'm alive?'" Rousey said with a giggle.
She's been announced as the star of Nick Cassavetes' Round House remake, which she revealed was a long time in the making. "I was pursuing Road House for like two years," she said. "I really don't think that any other man could be [Patrick Swayze]. I think that it's a wise angle to take to kind of do a little gender flip of the role."

Kevin Feige Loves Ronda Rousey's CAPTAIN MARVEL Campaign
Ronda Rousey has been talking recently - and often - about how much she wants to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, she wants to play Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers, who will get her own feature film and should play a role in future Avengers films. Well, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has heard her talking.
"I love it," Feige told IGN at the Avengers: Age of Ultron blu-ray release event. "[Actors campaigning like that] happens occasionally, and I think that's a testament to the strength of the characters."
"You look at the ways we've cast our films in the past and it's always about who's the best person to inhabit the character, whether that is an actor like Chris Hemsworth who bulks up, or a wrestler like Dave Bautista who played Drax who ends up being an amazing performer, an amazing actor and a clever and witty and pointed comedic actor," Feige said.
"For us, it's sitting down with people and starting to meet people and as the script takes shape and as we start to build who the character should be and finding the right person to match it up," he added. "We haven't necessarily started sitting down with people yet and meeting on that part."
