Attacking the Capitol is a bit more serious than regular street crime. It's a direct attack on democracy. If these people had been Marxists you'd want to throw the book at them.

So no harsh punishment for violent crime, drug dealers and property criminals as long as they vote democrat?

We did have Marxists attack state capitols in 2016 to stop the electoral college, trying to beat down the doors of the supreme court, burning police stations and federal court houses all last year, and the book was not thrown at them at all, in fact our VP was raising money to bail them out. Dude in the OP got 8 months for trespassing for 15 minutes and vandalizing nothing and harming nobody.

8 months for storming a capitol is not too bad. Probably serves 4 months, and is out.
It sets the bar for the vandalizers, people that committed felonies by stealing mail, Window breakers, those that hit cops and the shit smearers. Those guys and gals know they are getting more than 8 months, except the idiot that stole mail. He is proper fucked.
