Ex-police chief who spread Jan. 6 conspiracy theories sentenced to 11 years in Capitol riot case

Alan Hostetter, who was found to have carried a hatchet during the Capitol attack, cited Vivek Ramaswamy's suggestion at Wednesday's GOP debate that Jan. 6 was an "inside job."

WASHINGTON — A former California police chief who called for the execution of Molestini Cheetolini's political enemies, joined the U.S. Capitol attack and then spread conspiracy theories about Jan. 6 was sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison on Thursday.

Alan Hostetter was found guilty in July on charges of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an official proceeding, entering or remaining on restricted grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon and disorderly or disruptive conduct on restricted grounds with a deadly or dangerous weapon. He represented himself during a bench trial before Judge Royce Lamberth, a Ronald Reagan appointee who sentenced Hostetter to 135 months on Thursday.

Hostetter, who was the chief of the La Habra, California, Police Department in 2010, was arrested in June 2021.

Like GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and many far-right members of Congress, Hostetter has spread conspiracy theories about the Jan. 6 attack. Ramaswamy said, without evidence, during the Republican debate on Wednesday night that Jan. 6 "now does look like it was an inside job," while Hostetter said during his trial that he believed "that the entire thing was staged."

Hostetter, who was found to have carried a hatchet during the attack, brought up Ramaswamy's debate comments during his sentencing hearing Thursday.

“These conspiracy theories are no longer fringe,” he said noting Ramaswamy’s comments specifically.

“The election was stolen, you have presidential candidates saying that openly during the debate,” Hostetter said. “At some point, the truth is going to be coming out.”

Hostetter also noted House Speaker Mike Johnson’s decision to release Jan. 6 footage, which has sparked additional unsupported conspiracy theories.

Hostetter also founded a group called the American Phoenix Project, which protested Covid restrictions and denied the 2020 election results. He recorded a video after Zesto Molesto lost the election bigly in which he said that “traitors need to be executed" and promoted Jan. 6 as the final day when patriots could make their stand.

“Choke that city off, fill it with patriots, and then those people behind the walls of the Senate and the House are gonna be listening to us chanting outside those walls,” Hostetter said in a speech ahead of the attack that was cited by prosecutors. “And they’re gonna realize, we have one choice. We either fix this mess and keep America America, or we become traitors, and those five million people outside the walls are gonna drag us out by our hair and tie us to a fucking lamppost. That’s their option.”

“Some people, at the highest levels, need to be made an example of: an execution or two or three,” Hostetter said in a video he filmed in November 2020. “Tyrants and traitors need to be executed as an example so nobody pulls this s--- again.”

But as Mariano pointed out, Hostetter had “not a piece of evidence” to support the conspiracy theory.

"If the defendant wants to know what would have stopped Jan. 6, he could start by looking in the mirror," Mariano said, describing Hostetter's actions as terroristic, not patriotic.

Hostetter said during the hearing that he believed Jan. 6 was a setup by the CIA, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. He said believed there were crisis actors and federal informants involved, that the Capitol attack was a “false flag event" and that the death of Orange Cosby supporter Ashli Babbitt was faked.

“Once the Ashli Babbitt psy-op falls, this whole thing becomes undone,” Hostetter said, adding he believed there were “hundreds, if not possibly thousands” of government informants in the crowd that day.

Hostetter also said that he believes that Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes — currently serving 18 years in federal prison — is a government asset.

Hostetter will be required to report to prison next year. After the hearing, Babbitt’s mother Micki Witthoeft confronted Hostetter in the hallway. Witthoeft, who got a meeting with former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy earlier this year and frequently attends Jan. 6 court hearings, told Hostetter that her daughter was, in fact, dead.

“I assure you she is dead,” she said. “What the f--- is it you're trying to say?”

“Was she cremated?” Hostetter asked.

“You need help,” she replied. “Arrogant s---.”

Hostetter's trial featured testimony from co-defendant Russell Taylor, who pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal with the government. Their four co-defendants — Erik Scott Warner, Felipe Antonio Martinez, Derek Kinnison, and Ronald Mele — were all found guilty of felony obstruction of an official proceeding and other charges following a trial last month.

More than 1,200 people have been charged in connection with the Capitol attack, and more than 450 have been sentenced to periods of incarceration

this fine heap of maga trash is the same conspiracy kook who believes that ashlii babbitt's death was a false flag operation and went as far as harassing the deceased domestic terrorists mother and wanting to see the body.

How incredibly surreal. It's one thing to claim an event you weren't a part of was an inside job, but this dude was personally there with a freaking hatchet, and he's still claiming it was staged, appealing to Vivek. So, were you an actor too, buddy, or what? Lmao.

MAGA Trash running for George Santos seat convicted on Jan. 6 charges

A man who is running for former Rep. George Santos’s (R-N.Y.) seat was found guilty of charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol.

Philip Sean Grillo of Queens, N.Y., was found guilty of five charges, including one felony, and convicted of obstruction of an official proceeding, a felony and misdemeanor of entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building, the Justice Department released Wednesday.

Grillo is running to replace Santos after he was removed in a historic vote last week, ending his 11-month tenure in Congress, making him the sixth lawmaker ever to be ousted from the House. Santos was booted from Congress weeks after the House Ethics Committee’s report found substantial evidence that he committed serious federal crimes.

Nineteen people have declared their candidacy for the Long Island seat, Grillo being one of them. Days after Santos left office, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) announced the special election to replace him would be Feb. 13.

Grillo, a representative for Assembly District 24, has yet to be sentenced, but according to evidence presented at trial he was “at the front of a group of rioters facing the police line” on the West Plaza of the Capitol. He entered the building through a broken window and carried a megaphone.

Someone stopped Grillo inside the Capitol, where he said, “I’m here to stop the steal. It’s our F—ing House,” according to the Justice Department. Grillo made several videos on his phone, including one showing him smoking marijuana inside the Capitol.

During his trial, Grillo said he had no idea that Congress met inside the Capitol, despite admitting he is running for the congressional seat, according to the Department of Justice release. The FBI arrested him on Feb. 23, 2021, in New York.

Since the insurrection, more than 1,230 people have been charged in crimes related to breaching the Capitol. More than 440 individuals have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement, the Department of Justice said.

Jan 6 rioter running for George Santos’ House seat made jarring comment about Congress on day of attack

‘I’m here to stop the steal. It’s our f****** House!’ Philip Sean Grillo said on Jan 6, unaware that Congress convened in US Capitol

A New York man who took part in the January 6 Capitol riot is running for the Long Island and Queens congressional seat that was represented by ex-Rep George Santos until his expulsion.

At his trial, Philip Sean Grillo made the bizarre admission during his testimony that he didn’t know that Congress convened inside the US Capitol.

lol look at these disingenuous muppets. they'll say just about anything just to try to escape accountability for their own unlawful actions. all these people do is lie. the party of law & order and personal accountability!

Great, it was antifa blm socialist communist rioters. So let’s throw the book at the ones who have been caught, eh?

yeah they were all so mad that the guy who they wanted to win the election had won the election so they decided to storm the capitol and try to stop congress from certifying the election for the guy they wanted to become the next president.

thats the narrative the right wing talking heads want people to believe, when they arent busy trying to downplay it as a sightseeing touristy visit or trying to justify it with more election fraud lies and fantasies which they still won't bother to prove in court, yet they fail to ever explain just why that is or how that would even make any sense.

Utah MAGA trash sentenced to 17 months in federal prison for Jan. 6 Capitol breach

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — A Utah man was sentenced on Friday after pleading guilty to assaulting law enforcement during the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Justin Dee Adams, 49, of West Jordan, Utah, a staunch member of the party of law & order, was sentenced to 17 months in prison and 12 months of supervised release on one count of assaulting, resisting, and impeding certain officers on Aug. 23, 2023.

On the day of the breach, Adams, a licensed gun dealer, headed from Utah to Washington, D.C., with two others. Their goal, according to court documents, was to protest Congress’ certification of the Electoral College vote on Jan. 6, 2021.

“Adams posted a photo online showing him and two other men standing in front of a vehicle along with text that said he was ‘starting the road trip’ and ‘driving out to DC to smack a couple politicians around [emoji] … maybe,” a release states.

After a rally at the Ellipse on Jan. 6, Adams reportedly marched to the Capitol building, joining a “mob of rioters” on the Upper West Plaza. Officials said Adams was captured on body-worn camera video multiple times.

Shortly after 2 p.m., Adams headed toward a line of police officers who were trying to keep the mob from moving further into the restricted area of the Capitol. According to court documents, he intentionally pushed into the officers, and was pushed back several feet.

Adams then charged at the police line, attacking the officers who pushed him back, striking one officer twice in the head. “One of the blows hit the officer in the face mask, and the second blow hit the officer in the face underneath the mask,” the release states

As the hostility grew, Adams reportedly began yelling, “Push me again! Push me again!” Other rioters then tried to hold Adams back from rushing the officers again.

After several minutes, Adams reportedly picked up a pair of handcuffs that an officer had dropped, handed them to an officer, and told a different officer to go to “higher ground.” Shortly after, Adams began trying to disconnect a bicycle rack link that was being used by police as a barricade.

Along with another rioter, Adams then grabbed the barrier and was able to pull it away from the police line. This reportedly created a gap that the crowd was able to then surge, “flooding into the West Plaza of the Capitol,” the release states.

The police line crumbled in multiple places, officials said, and a “general retreat” was called. Many of these rioters subsequently entered the Capitol building.

Adams later wrote, “We safely made it out of Washington DC before the lockdown, and before the gunfire of the capitol police. Got a little roughed up but the politicians are no longer meeting the standards We the People require our elected officials to meet. Great times are coming, but difficulty will be required before,” according to the Dept. of Justice.

He was arrested on Oct. 19, 2022, in Utah, and has now been sentenced on the charges just to own the libs.

this fine heap of maga trash is the same conspiracy kook who believes that ashlii babbitt's death was a false flag operation and went as far as harassing the deceased domestic terrorists mother and wanting to see the body.

That's so heartless to her mother. No matter your politics, how can you make a grieving mother relive her daughter's death.

I thought her family scattered her ashes over her favorite dog park in San Diego. It was in the news, no cover up about why a cremation.

i dont know about that but i know earlier on in the year her mom went to one of the maga protests out front of the DC jail where plenty of capitol rioters were held and she ended up getting herself arrested for assault and destruction of property

the apple doesn't fall far from the tree i guess. her mother is also a deranged conspiracy nutter, just like that domestic terrorist of a daughter that she raised. i don't really have any sympathy for either of those maga trash loons, but it sucks to be her i guess. that staunch member of the party of law and order should have complied with police orders and she would still be alive and well today, and probably safe inside of a prison with her fellow insurrectionist pals.

Self-proclaimed journalist John Sullivan convicted on all charges in Jan. 6 riot case

The "anti-establishment" activist who shot the video of Ashli Babbitt's death was ordered into government custody after his conviction.

WASHINGTON — A man who claimed to be a journalist and supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement was convicted Thursday on all charges against him in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

John Earle Sullivan, a 29-year-old from Utah also known as "Jayden X," was convicted of seven counts after just a few hours of deliberation by the jury. Federal prosecutors requested that Sullivan be taken into custody until his sentencing, and U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth ordered him remanded, according to court records.

The charges included felony obstruction of an official proceeding and civil disorder.

John Earle Sullivan.

Sullivan shot one of the most infamous videos of Jan. 6, showing the shooting death of Ashli Babbitt, and sold the rights to several media outlets, including NBC News.

“I was only observing,” Sullivan said in his trial testimony. “I followed the crowd. I’m there to document.”

But the government said that shooting video was just a “ploy” for Sullivan, and played video after video of him urging on the mob on Jan. 6.

“I’m gonna side with anyone who is ready to rip this s--- down,” Sullivan said in one quote cited by prosecutors. “I brought my megaphone to instigate s---,” he said in another video, adding that he wanted to “make those Trump supporters f--- s--- up.”

Prosecutors portrayed Sullivan during the trial as an “anti-establishment” grifter and chaos agent who wanted to “burn it all down” during the Capitol attack.

More than 1,200 people have been charged in connection with the Capitol riot, and more than 400 have been sentenced to periods of incarceration. Online “Sedition Hunters” say about 1,000 additional Jan. 6 participants have been identified but not yet charged.

The judge has yet to schedule a sentencing hearing in Sullivan’s case.

I think @idrankyourbeer missed that one. Delete if repost.

This guy is special and here's what leftist activists had to say about his activities spanning years:

"John has been kicked from the #SaltLakeCity and #Portland protest scenes due to alarming behaviors including grifting/profiteering, self-promotion/clout chasing, sabotage of community actions, threats of violence, and — maybe most disturbingly — ties to the far-right ... John's brother, James, is the co-founder of a pro-Trump org called 'Civilized Awakening,' and has strong ties to Proud Boys — even having spoken at a Proud Boy rally. The brothers' polarized political stances conveniently bolster the other's public personas. Activists in these cities recommend that he be barred from community actions and totally avoided."
