That scene from Cape Fear was very good. I just didn't care for the movie itself. The mood in it was just weird and the movie felt clunky. Maybe it was edited poorly.

I like both movies a lot. Cape Fear doesn't get the love it should because it is old but it is some of De Niro's best work. I think Heat is a better movie because of the director, writing, and cast, but I think this is some of the best acting from DeNiro. I wish it didn't look old but it really is a great movie.

The scene in Heat is very subdued in comparison to Cape Fear. I don't think a lot was required from DeNiro in Heat in terms of acting. He doesn't need to carry the movie but just fit in

I feel like at some point, Scorcese loses some of the grit that we saw in his older films. This felt more like a normal holywood film which is not like Scorcese up until then. It did feel like something was off with the movie. Could be poor editing or maybe a bad directing job. With the cast it should have been a memorable movie but it became just a meh movie.

Heat wins easy. Usually Pacino liked dress rehearsals don't extensively before scenes, meaning they would practice a scene hours before it was shot for weeks. Deniro wanted to do it ad libbed. So they basically improvised the entire scene hitting little landmarks in the script. The timing and their responses aren't normal for both actors so it's really subtle and subdued but at the same time they first tried to scare the other off but then gave up and had a moment. It's why both were bringing up families or loved ones to intimidate the other and both realized they were very alike and built that way. It wasn't anything personal. Just the nature of the world.
Cool scene.

The part where he's like hiding under the car, the whole boat thing, it went a little over the top for me there yea.

Everyone I've ever seen watch that movie sees that always breaks out laughing. They even drive to a fruit stand off the highway through gravel road. It don't know how it got through even denire

Yea easily that was the most WTF part of the movie.
