after seein the madrimov fight again, i can’t see bud doing much to canelo. i think it comes down to a couple things… how canelo will fight. does the wgt jump play such a huge factor that canelo can just walk down bud? are bud’s punches effective? or is each guy just happy not taking risk, winnin on points and getting paid?

Fair enough, this is definitely not a hill to die on for me. I'm questioning Spence after the two crashes and his lifestyle. I for one didn't think he looked good against Ugas, Mikey, Porter or Danny, but to each their own. I was looking for the destroyer who smashed Algieri, Ocampo and Brook and was very surprised he decided to jab and box Mikey. He was being stalked by Danny in the 12th. He thought he lost his damn teeth when Ugas jabbed him.

But I also think that if the version of Spence that tore through Brook showed up, he still loses. More competitively and by points, I think, but you're right Crawford proved to be so much better.

My main thing is, take away the Spence win and Crawford's next best win is Porter. Solid resume, and HOF worthy but hardly the work of an ATG, which he is widely touted to be. I think he would be a ridiculous underdog against Canelo if the Spence fight never happened. He is going to a small underdog come fight night. And to me, most of his aura is still based on that one, amazing win. I wonder if that performance is distorting a more accurate read of where Crawford really stands. I think we'll find out in September.

Crawford looked incredible, several levels above Spence to put it mildly, in terms of skill, talent, everything.

But even though I was high on Spence at one point, everything you said is true - he looked underwhelming in all those fights. The Porter fight was close, and he could barely put a dent in little Mikey.

Crawford is excellent, and has aged well (no doubt helped by his extremely easy career ) but my gut feeling says that fight made Crawford looked much better than he really is, as Spence basically looked done.

It's possible the Madrimov fight is a more accurate reflection of Crawford's abilities, especially at 154+. Or at least somewhere between the two.

If you already know that, what exactly makes you think Crawford, a much smaller man than Bivol, is going to stop Canelo?

Canelo who - whatever you think of him - has a granite chin and has barely been hurt in his entire career.

There's no way for me to know that is what's going to happen but it is what I believe will happen I think around round 9 or 10

I know that but neither of those guys can set up a big shot the way Crawford can and Canelo got caught with a shot from Jose Cotto that had him hurt and none of these fighters mentioned bring to the table what Crawford does different styles

They absolutely can and did. Golovkin walked Canelo onto huge shots he didn't see coming at all. They landed flush and barely did anything. They were also much, much harder than anything Crawford is capable of throwing/landing.
