@Sinister Please tell me you’re aware Crawford will whoop that ass September 12 cause I still have no clue how Canelo could win this.

I dunno, never underestimate great fighters when they appear bored. Salvador Sanchez had that problem as well. Then you put him in a real fight and he murks the guy.

The same applies to Crawford though. The bigger threat you are, the more he fucks you up. All things considered, I expect a replay of Floyd vs Canelo.

Crawford is one of my favorite fighters. But Floyd befuddled a much less experienced Canelo with his defensive prowess. Crawford isnt going to be able to do that. He does his best work IN the line of fire, and often takes 1 to give 2 or 3. That's a much more risky game against Canelo.

I'm not saying it's not possible, but Canelo garnering a fairly boring victory against a guy who would rather jump off a bridge than exchange with him isnt going to convince me that Crawford dominates him

The thing about Canelo is he has fast hands but slow feet. As long as you keep circling around him and don't let him plant his feet, he can't trap you and hurt you. Now if that's all your doing, you're still gonna get decisioned like Lara and Scull. If you move around AND hit back like Floyd or Bivol, he doesn't really have an answer.

Fair enough man. I'm wondering if Crawford is counting on miles on the clock being an issue for Canelo, Crawford is older but hasn't really had a tough career punishment wise. Maybe inactivity will cost him, who knows?

(As you can tell I can't pick a winner right now ha ha)

Floyd wasnt dancing around him. He was just neutralizing his offense. Lara moved around but, as you said, he and Scull couldnt mount significant enough offense to win with their feet moving as much as they needed to in order to keep Canelo off them.

Jacobs tried the stick-and-move formula and Canelo made him look like a neophyte.

Again not saying it's not possible, I just don't see it as a certainty.

The Floyd version of canelo is way better than this current faded version. He is just a one dimensional plodder now. Crawford can definitely out box him and even style on him late if comes to fight.

gut felling - i think this fight is gonna be boring for the most part.
fact is canelo has faded significantly... but he got great defense.
neither guy takes big risks for their offense. guarantee it's not gonna happen.
that's their pattern.

both guys will try to do enough to win, nothing more.

The more I think about it the more I wonder if Crawfords win over Spence has been overvalued. I mean he looked absolutely invincible but then again what kind of version of Spence did he fight? I’m leery of the hindsight bias but even if you give him all the due accolades, what kind of career does he have minus that win? Errol Spence’s name just seems to pull so much clout even after all these years

This I'm not sure about. Sure, Crawford likes to coast, but in a 50-50 fight I think he'll want to come on strong and Canelo is known to fade a bit. But if Crawford doesn't take risks, he will lose. The same is not true for Canelo.

why would you think it was a bad version of spence? he had finished ugas in his previous fight. he looked good against mikey, porter, danny. people talk about his car crash and his injured eye, but nothing in any of his fights prior to crawford indicated that he was damaged goods.

i picked errol, long before they were even scheduled to fight. bud fucking dismantled him. not because spence wasn't any good, because crawford was so much better.

Fair enough, this is definitely not a hill to die on for me. I'm questioning Spence after the two crashes and his lifestyle. I for one didn't think he looked good against Ugas, Mikey, Porter or Danny, but to each their own. I was looking for the destroyer who smashed Algieri, Ocampo and Brook and was very surprised he decided to jab and box Mikey. He was being stalked by Danny in the 12th. He thought he lost his damn teeth when Ugas jabbed him.

But I also think that if the version of Spence that tore through Brook showed up, he still loses. More competitively and by points, I think, but you're right Crawford proved to be so much better.

My main thing is, take away the Spence win and Crawford's next best win is Porter. Solid resume, and HOF worthy but hardly the work of an ATG, which he is widely touted to be. I think he would be a ridiculous underdog against Canelo if the Spence fight never happened. He is going to a small underdog come fight night. And to me, most of his aura is still based on that one, amazing win. I wonder if that performance is distorting a more accurate read of where Crawford really stands. I think we'll find out in September.
