Holy shit superman, you've never taken a vacation before? Most of them are owner operators so chances are they've worked pretty hard to be able to afford the time off. Get outta here with this us vs them BS. They're normal hard working Canadians like most of us. Difference is you don't like them.

Doubt that

The level of stupidity that comes out of conservatives generation after generation is pretty shocking. Even Canadian conservatives are extremely dumb, ignorant people with a lot of unfounded beliefs. Evolution is fake, Climate Change is fake, Vaccines are harmful/evil, etc etc.

It’s a group of people who seem determined to bring humanity into back the dark ages. Sad & pathetic.
The Alberta culture is funny to me (I say this knowing I'm going to get a ton of Quebec bashing but I'm used to it. Albertans are particularly sensitive to criticism though).

They happen to be born in a province rich in high-demand natural resources. All they have to do is get jobs that don't require much education to service that industry. These jobs pay very well so who can blame them? But the arrogance that they are the main provider of the country's wealth will likely be short lived.

Instead of nationalizing their energy sector and natural resources, the Alberta government under Ralph Klein decided to sell all those assets to private interests and put the money in the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund (for which there is a mere 17 billion dollars left). Sure they have no more debt or deficit, but the public debt was just 8 billion dollars at the time. These assets and other provincial assets that were part of the massive slashing public funding were sold for way below market value. Contrast that with Norway's oil assets valued at 1 trillion dollars and 100% owned by the people of Norway.
It's like imagine having Bitcoin valued at 150 000 dollars and you really want to buy a Porsche Panamera and pay off all your debts. Your financial advisor tells you to hold on these assets because Bitcoin value will likely skyrocket. You decide to sell, and you sit here knowing you would probably have 20 million dollars in Bitcoin had you held onto it. You could use these assets as equity and borrow against it, or liquidate and live off of the interest and live a comfortable life for yourself and your family and probably never have to worry about money again. Your TFSA account says you have 5000 dollars left of the initial liquidation and the returns have been lower than projected. Had you kept your Bitcoin, you would have retained control over what you could do with the assets. But now you're stuck hoping the market picks up to bolster that 5k. You're at the mercy of outside forces.
The people of Alberta are still calling Ralph Klein a hero (well,.some aren't but the vast majority of the folk are). Meanwhile Quebec has nationalized their main natural resource and provider of (clean) energy: hydro-electricity, and offer the cheapest electricity prices to their constituents in North America. The hydro-quebec crown corporation is gaining value because of demand for renewable energy and lucrative contracts with states of New York and Massachusetts. They played the long game. Alberta played their game like the stock market for quick gains.

Anyways, these occupants, many of which follow the Alberta Rule of Economics and Governance (and want to separate because they think they're so rich and fuck the rest) don't even understand the basic principles of proper economics and governance, and we can't trust they would know much on public safety, standard of care medical practices (and the reasons behind their usefulness) and other important issues. These are mostly salt of the earth folk who I believe are the backbone of our economy and society, but unfortunately don't stay in their lane when it comes to complex issues. It's a Dunning-Kruger effect on a massive scale to think that because their province is (for the moment) rich (i.e no debt and few assets) that they know better than everyone. But obviously it's a minority of Albertans who think like this...

By the way, the equivalent of the "first amendment" in Canada's constitution is likely the right to recognize Manitoba as an official province a.k.a the Manitoba Act. So Lich's husband just went before a judge to plead for his wife's right to act on behalf of Canada to recognize Manitoba as an official province of Canada. *Queue Price is Right horns*

I think at the end of the day the idiots are the people who rely on the media and government to do their thinking. If you actually just use your eyes, ears and brain, you will see that omicron is a cold and not a serious threat. Yes it is for old people and imunocompromised, so they should be more careful. That's their job, not mine.

The border mandate is mentally retarded. The government simply implemented it as a way to force vaccination on the trucking profession. Breathing the air on the other side of the line should not require you to have to isolate for 4 days longer than anyone with actual synptoms.

The Liberals are forcing vaccination because they bought too many vaccines that people don't want anymore. They want to look less stupid and are using "science" to trump common sense. why do they not care about families, children's quality of life and mental health? They have exposed that the top 2 liberals are condesending assholes that will do whatever it takes to end opposition to their mandate.

Jagmeet has supported them every step of the way and absolutely hates white people. He supported the emergency measures, but not for minorites. That is fucked.

At the end of the day the political system in Canada is fucked. The country is completey fractured. My only hope is Pierre Polievre. I am a conservative team guy, but this is the first time since Harper that a true leader for any party is emerging. Cut him down all you want, but he has a vision for Canada and all Canadians. Gonna involve a little effort on Canadians end by having to work and cooperate with fellow canadians and provinces, but such is life. that's the canada i want. There is no reason we need to be struggling and making this so expensive and have so many rules.

I live in Ontario but realize we are the problem.

Are you happy they tucked tail or that the government restricted their speech and right to protest or both?
I'm happy that they think that they're Paul Revere but are actually a bunch of overweight, undereducated morons who are getting stomped on by a guy who they can't stop making fun of for being girly and ineffectual. It's pretty great, since I find moronic losers getting owned hilarious

Hasn’t Alberta been giving Quebec countless billions of dollars every year for quite a long time?

Castro Jr. is just taking a page out of his padre's playbook.

And all they ask in return is for the rest of the receivers to mind their fucking business. Too bad liberals are a power hungry group that force people to live like them.

Fuck I love alberta and albertans. So self sufficient.

All me bud. Try thinking for yourself. It is enlightening.

Yes yes I know. Thanks for the money bla bla bla. It's not Alberta but Canada, of course. But the Alberta Heritage Trust Fund is running low and my prediction for the future is Alberta is going to be needing a lot of federal assistance once we transition from oil as our main source of energy.
