Elections Canadian Federal Election 2019 Thread

Who laughs at Detroit? I think it's a tragedy what you people did to that city.
So what you are saying is that liberals caused the collapse of the American auto industry? Because you do know that's a huge part of the reason for for why Detroit is in it's current state?

Industry leaving is a huge part but it isn't the sole cause.

I for one will be voting for the greatest Canadian actor in history,

Justin Castro.
My lord he is talented.

LOL, Canadian election thread and people are talking about American cities and industry.

It's a shame to see what happened with Bernier and the PPC. He got lumped in with a lot of yahoos and now he's not really taken seriously.

It'll be an interesting election. Trudeau has done everything in his power to embarrass and disgrace himself, but can Scheer pull off the win? I'm also wondering, in the wake of the many JT scandals, how many Liberal voters will jump over to NDP, even though Singh is a real dud.

A lot of people still love Trudeau, though.

Well, while he's doing all that embarrassing stuff, how's the country doing? Economic growth over 3%, check.
Low unemployment, check.
I'm looking for all these signs he's ruining the country and coming up with bupkes.

Don't know if you remember (I'm guessing probably not from your moronic reply), but Max came within a cunt hair of being the leader of PC's, which is kind of a big deal. So yeah, at one point Max was taken very seriously by a lot of people.

Perhaps so. I guess whether that invalidates my post depends upon defining "a lot" and "taken very seriously" and placing them in context. Kim Campbell not only won the leadership of her party, but she was also Prime Minister. I'm sure there were a lot of people taking her very seriously too. But there were very many more who didn't.

Anyway, sure, it was a flippant comment and I withdraw it and replace it with this: He had his 15 minutes and now he's like the past his prime fighter still bragging about how he is coming for that belt. He's advocating a divisive agenda and most people just don't have the time or energy for that shit from what I can see. I think he's getting what he deserves, politically speaking.

Many do, but I would say many more really hate the idea of the Cons winning, and the Liberals have no viable alternative.

The NDP is a disaster. It’s been a disaster for a long time, bit it’s wrecking itself now, and it’s not showing any sign of slowing down.

The Greens are the alternative, but they’re going to be the alternative to the previously loyal NDP crowd (not the really nutty ones, but the ones just Left of the Liberals).

I won’t be surprised at all if the Liberals comfortably win this election. The NDP is done in Quebec, which means it’s solidly going to be in Liberal hands, and Ontario (ie Toronto) will be as well.

Apparently, Trudeau got wrecked on a Netflix show (Of course, CBC seems to be limiting their coverage on this ownage). I have never heard of the show and have yet to watch the episode. Here are some links to headlines:

Hasan Minhaj didn’t interview Justin Trudeau — he took him to the woodshed

Funny though, the line at 24:45: The "main opposition is the Conservative Party, and they're worse on almost every issue I mentioned tonight." But you would never leave that part out on purpose to suit your agenda, not would you? Nah, just missed that part, no doubt.

High taxes
Corrupt PM and Finance Minister

Gun violence in biggest city

I did mention in my post that I have not yet watched the episode. I guess you missed that part of my post. Also, the two links I posted are left-leaning sources Vice and The Star (I edited the sources into the previous post above the links).

CTV has some coverage of Trudeau's Netflix ordeal:

Comedian Hasan Minhaj puts Trudeau in hot seat over Saudi arms deal

Huffington Post:
Hasan Minhaj Presses Trudeau About Pipelines, Saudi Arabia On ‘Patriot Act’

Minhaj acknowledges that while Trudeau and his Liberals aren’t the shining progressives people might have hoped, the Conservatives are worse when it comes to the issues he’s just covered. The host points out that Stephen Harper’s government cut spending to support refugees, withdrew Canada from the Kyoto Protocol, and called Greenpeace violent extremists.

You posted a clickbait headline without watching the video it references and then did it again in this post. Pretty soon you'll be in the same league as @Tropodan

Edit: or perhaps I have been giving you too much credit up to now.

All of my sources are from left-leaning media. I will post this again from the Huffington Post article:

I had no idea Harper was running this election

All three of those things are false or misleading. Comparatively to what the liberals "refugee" plan of course they "cut funding". That's not important for Canadians.

We should not hamstring our energy sector and economy when we produce so little emmissions globally, and it's good we withdrew from the Kyoto accord.

Green Peace has indeed transformed into a radical extremist organization capable of violence.

Thank you, come again liberals.

As @SammyPops already pointed out, it is rather interesting that yet another mindless, smug, obnoxious, cynical, leftist, Jon Stewart clone brings up "the previous government" when talking about Andrew Scheer's conservatives. I'm not interested in even watching the interview, but from what I have read, this "comedian" is nothing more than a progressive cliche who paints things with a broad brush, leaves out context and nuance and hits the checklist when it comes to mundane identity politics and climate change.

When will these leftist political comedy shows finally die off? They get worse with each new Jon Stewart wannabe.

Honestly, this is good news for Trudeau. The fact that he's being attacked on the left demonstrates that his policies are centrist, and that he's not a left wing kook.

It reminds me of this legendary segment between Jim Brown and Lester Maddox at 2:00:

Maddox claims he's done all these great things for black people, and then Jim Brown goes, "So have you been having trouble from the white bigots because you did so much for the black man?"
