5 weeks into Sheiko and there's a recurring stabbing pain at my left pec attachment at the armpit whenever I bench. I've decided this is an impending tear and stopped benching. Think there's a work around for this? Maybe board press?

See a doc and physio.
I personally would play around with pressing options that don't aggravate it like Dumbells, etc. With the goal to just keep movement through it until it settles down.
Sheiko has done a number on you mate.

I overestimated my maxes and got excited when the weight actually moved lol

Not only bench but you can fight UFC

Just missing the key ingredient... copious amounts of steroids unfortunately.

Hopefully it's just a volume adaption and you can get it too settle down nice and quick.
Sounds like it might be non muscular so some blood flow usually helps me, but I would definitely see a professional.

First, seek professional advice. Preferably a doctor or physio who specialises in these kind of injuries. Without knowing exactly what's wrong, it's not possible to give specific advice on how to continue training.

Depending on what the doc says, board press might be an option. Or benching using a neutral grip, i.e. with a Football Bar or dumbbells. But get it checked out first. Don't try to wing it. There's a good chance you'll make the injury much worse.

I wouldnt trust board presses. But I'm confident close-grip bench presses will be safe. Or do what I do and do push presses. That's a major shoulder and tricep stimulation with almost zero pectoral involvement.

I'm honestly scared for your pecs dude. Please be careful.

Board presses seems to still involve a lot of squeezing the pecs. But close grips? That's all triceps.

I wouldnt trust it as just "volume adaption". Bro I bench heavy with relatively high volume, sometimes twice a week, and even I don't get that sharp pec tendon sensation deadshot felt.

That's why I said I "hope" and said to see a professional. If it's just the increase in volume it's an easy fix.

I benchpress 2x a week, with a heap of assistance work and also don't get that issue.

Shieko is pretty intense especially the high volume stuff. New program, a few threads feeling beat up and having to stop an exercise, from pain.
Points towards the body not being able to adapt to the current training load unless @deadshot138 had a recent acute injury to that area we don';t know about. Again, though it's just speculation online.

Nah no acute injury. If I had to describe it it'd be tendinitis of the pec attachment. Even unracking causes the response so I'm just cooking it for now. I hit the area with a massage gun and took some ibuprofen. There's no deformities or bruising

That's hopefully a good result. I had similar with some forearm issues, but mine started after my elbow got hyperextended in an armbar. I had the acute injury which led to the tendonitis.

Tendons are annoying in that they need movement to heal, but you need to balance not overloading it. I personally just keep training through it, but I did that after speaking to my physio.

Left hip and right knee also barking. And I'm sicker than a dog. It's safe to say Sheiko lives up to its menacing reputation. It's ruined my life the last month lol. Time to go back to conjugate.

If you are trying to do Sheiko while still doing BJJ it will not work. Sheiko done proper actually isn't that hard other than mastery of boredom from so many sets. Get the app. Use the features and never look back.

I haven't been doing anything except Sheiko. I might be overestimating my maxes but the weight isn't difficult to move. Work eats into my sleep though. I'm sure that's a major issue.

Are you referring to Sheiko gold?

Very wide grip puts more stress on shoulders.

Narrow grip shifts focus on triceps.

Yes board press will shift focus on triceps as well.

I'd maybe try floor presses to shift focus on triceps?

Maybe try close grip dips that focus on triceps.

I highly recommend bpc157+tb500 stack for healing. One mg of each per day can work small miracles.

For general well being I'd take zinc, vit c, vit D, and relatively high amount of melatonin like 100-200mg.

I forget how old you are (late 30s iirc?) but perhaps you may be overestimating your recuperative abilities....

Out of curiosity, what does the melatonin do?
