Can Weili Zhang pull off the upset?

I think Zhang is on her way up. She should be the underdog, but I wouldn't be shocked if she pulled off some amazing performance and even dominated.

Andrade was getting pieced up in the Rose fight before the hail mary slam. Andrade is powerful but I'm not impressed otherwise. I think she lucked into the title.

Do you smell an upset here? It feels like it. Watching some of her highlights and she is definitely an incredible fighter. Andrade is just such a little pitbull though. Although against lesser competition for the most part...she has shown that she is a finisher. (19 Wins- 9 Knockouts, 7 Submissions and 3 Decisions)
with only 1 blemish on her record, which came in the form of a decision loss in the first fight of her career.

EDIT- It would obviously be an upset to most of us here on Sherdog and in the MMA community as a whole...But the majority of the oddsmakers have Jessica Andrade at around (-180) and Weili Zhang hovering around (+150)....which seems alot closer to 50/50 than I would have guessed.

Can she? absolutely. anyone could

I cant forget how totally ineffective she was against Joana. Swinging haymakers from a mile away while getting picked apart with leg kicks and jabs. Saw glimpses of it in the Rose fight too.

Zhang is....not Joanna. Different styles. Styles make fights.

Amazing title win by Andrade and what a slam but I was blown away with how effortlessly Rose was putting a beating on her. I just think Zhang is about to storm the scene and make her claim to the MMA gods.

Come on, Zhang is a rightful underdog in this bout. She took tiny little blown up atomweight Danielle Taylor to a decision and even got dropped by her in the process. Then submitted way past her prime Jessica Aguilar. Her most recent victory in perennial contender Tecia Torres is the first decent win in the UFC, by decision, and that doesn't even look that good since Tecia just got defeated by a relative newcomer in Marina Rodriguez. Is there any doubt in anyone's mind that Jessica Andrade would violently finish or dominantly defeat all the opponents that Zhang beat in her brief UFC run so far? This is a very big step up for Zhang.

So when Andrade beat Tecia Torres by decision was it an unanimously violent win? Just for your references that was only 3 fights ago

Fight still leaves a bad taste in my mouth/memory. Rose was and is still IMO clearly the more well rounded, skilled fighter... and watching the fight back just last week Rose put on a beautiful round 1 and didn't stick with the same strategy. Don't know if it was a mental lapse or what not or Andrade getting to her with the leg kicks and inside punches... But clinching with her doesn't seem smart given her history of slamming her opponents. Easy for me to say in hindsight now but still.

In my opinion JJ is still better than Rose , she beat Andrade and was razor close to beating Rose in the second fight but our opinions don’t matter as Andrade KO’d the champ just like Rose did. Zhang has a chance but it is a small one.

It’s not a Hail Mary slam, it is a trademark slam she did it twice to her within 5 minutes.
