Can we Finally Cut Anthony Smith?

Smith almost got a title shot off some BS but dude has no heart. Dudes nickname is literally Lion Heart but is the opposite. In the Glover fight he clearly attempted to get his corner to stop it "he knocked my teeth out." Dude wanted out. Now he gets rocked and turtles into a ball. He should be PFL bound but the UFC likes him for some reason. I'm guessing he gets Cutalabba next to save his job.

Imagine jumping on an internet forum to shit on a guy for perceiving he may want to quit after getting molested for an entire fight and having his teeth knocked out.

"got rocked?" Nah, his brain was literally shutting on and off and trying to recalibrate. He couldn't do anything if he wanted to. It isn't like he got hit with a stiff jab and it made him dizzy. His synapses were literally misfiring and/or not firing and trying to reset.

gtfo dude. Smith has never been great but he's always showed up to fight.

He showed a ton of heart in the fight, took a lot of punishment. He desperately needs to work on his takedowns. I listen to his podcast with Bisping and he says he's a grappler first, but he only went for like 1 takedown in this fight vs Roundtree. If he improved his wrestling bigtime he'd be a much more dangerous fighter.

Also calling for someone's job is a troll move, get over yourself.

I’m not even t trying to hate on Smith but he should retire. He’s already got a tv desk gig on ESPN that can open so many more doors for him. He didn’t look good in the fight last night. Repeatedly got caught throwing naked leg kicks in the pocket with his guard wide open. Got rocked multiple times and if Rountree had better fight IQ may have gotten finished way early and more brutally. You can’t part time the top 10 of any division and he’s getting older

He is a veteran but watching him just hurts sometimes, no determination, no heart no nothing
All he seems to do nowadays is talking about how other guys are not as good while he is slowly becoming a bum himself

Ps. I have not seen his fight vs Rountree yrt
I agree, but liking the comment mostly for your avatar! 👀

Dude looked like he was doing the MVP strut.

LHW is shallow as fuck so no and Anthony isn't a bad fighter. He can still beat some guys, just not the top.

What the fuck is with losers on Sherdog wanting people to lose their jobs?
Most of the times their well-being is more important than keeping a job, this particular type of job, he already had almost 60 fights with a pretty average record with almost 20 loses, he does have a job with the UFC tho, he could focus more into that and building himself into an analyst gig, setup a gym, its not like he wont be able to make a living, but he took a beating and has been losing more than winning since the Jones fight, which he lost, this is not a he has no heart post, he does but the rest of him cant keep up, either he didnt prepare well or was outclassed badly.

When he is on I just go do something else.
It's a pretty easy solution.

As if this is the only consideration.

A man who has been TKO/TKOd 11 times in 19 losses in 56 professional fights should just keep fighting forever, because the human body is designed to sustain that level of extraordinary abuse indefinitely.

Particularly a man who is on television and has other media income streams, where such continued abuse could not just impact his health but compromise his ability to do these jobs.

Who said anything about fighting forever? He's free to live his life how he chooses. Retiring or not is his choice but I don't think he should be cut. Do you think the UFC should be the brain damage police?

This place man. Only here do people act like fighters owe them money or seriously disgraced them. Come on now. Smith is never in a boring fight! Tries his hardest and is always in wild fire fights/tests of will

He's not good enough to beat Roundtree, or Ankalaev, Glover, etc. Is he improving? Hell if I know. All I know is if he loves fighting I love watching him fight :(

Is he getting unnecessary damage to effect his out of cage work? Hell if I know. I wish him well. I'm a fight fan though...

He’s really not that bad but starting to enter punching bag territory. Can’t see him beating anyone in the top 10 and he’s getting slow. If he’s smart, he’ll retire to the booth (he’s not great there either but at least more tolerable than Cruz or DC) but he obviously still thinks he is elite so we will see him take 3-4 scary KO losses over the next 2-3 years before UFC urges him to hang it up.

never liked the guy but acting like he has no heart when he was literally handing his teeth to the referee in the middle of a fight, and he continued to try to defend himself after getting blasted by 2 punches while he was on 1 leg is bullshit. he has heart, that's like the only thing he has.

It seems like you needed the 'brain damage police' to intervene a while ago if you think it's worthy of mockery that a multi-billion dollar company should at least have some minimal level of responsibility for the long-term health of people who get punched in the head to make it those billions.

Yes, major fight promoters should be brain damage police, as you moronically characterize it, to at least some extent.

The UFC, before it went full-retard PowerSlap mode, used to worry about this issue at least a little (for PR not moral reasons obviously) and were famously the brain damage police for Chuck Liddell.

Of course, Smith shouldn't expect to be saved from himself by this type of company. He should just retire.

Nah Smith vs Craig next

LionHeart vs Braveheart
