I was wondering the other day if it's allowed to listen to music. Someone throws on you headphones for 1 min with your favourite song, get pumped up

You really don’t want anything carbonated. I don’t know if any sports drinks would make a difference. I prefer water and I don’t think I could chug anything else when training hard.

If there is a ban I wonder if any camps ever crush up caffeine pills and add them to their water.

Also, there's actually a limit of caffeine you're allowed to have in your system IIRC
Yes, but the threshold really high:
"According to a WADA spokesperson, the organization determined that caffeine no longer met at least two of three criteria for inclusion on the prohibited list. The criteria for banning a drug are that:

  1. It has the potential to enhance sport performance
  2. It represents a health risk to the athletes
  3. It violates the spirit of sport
However, caffeine isn’t completely in the clear. The stimulant remains on the WADA watch list for 2018, and athletes’ caffeine levels are still actively monitored for patterns of use.

Even if the ban is reinstated, athletes would not likely have to abstain from coffee completely. The legal limit under previous restrictions was 12 microgram/ml in urine, which is roughly equivalent to drinking 8 servings of espressos over the course of a few hours."

Also lol at the Idea of having a smoothie between rounds.

I can tell you now TS, the last thing on your mind between rounds would be, "Oh hang on whilst I get to my favorite song, can you pass me my ipod please coach, I need to get motivated.." You would be too busy bleeding and questioning your life choices TS.

I'm pretty sure TS means Thread- Starter but I could be wrong.

Anyways, yes probably lol.

Worst thread this week. And that's really saying something lmfao

It's water only in boxing i know for a fact, unless you have panama lewis for a coach then it's the bottle he mixed.

I think I remember Shane Carwin doing this in some of his fights.

I think it would be a big advantage to have an energy drink, or even a milk/banana smoothie in between rounds to get more energy.

I remember years and years ago, some of my Arab students recommended Camels milk as being very good for energy.

Is this illegal? Why don't more fighters do this?

Milking a camel is harder than you think

Water only.. Actually there was a famous controversy in the 1st Aaron Pryor VS Alexis Arguello fight. Pryor's trainer kept saying between rounds to "Give me the bottle, the one that I mixed" His trainer Panama Lewis was a known cheat who was eventually banned from boxing.. Nobody knows exactly what was in there. Pryor won by stoppage and a narrative was out there, that whatever was in the bottle may have been why. Pryor beat Alexis up worse in the rematch..

Probably makes more sense to do it before the fight that way your stomach settles it already and the benefit is in your system. IDK how long it takes to get the energy benefit after consumption, but essentially it would have to be immediately to work between rounds.

But does it have to work between rounds to be worthwhile? If drinking after the first round will give me a second wind during the fifth, why not?

pretty sure the only thing you're allowed to drink is water...that's it...

it takes about 10 or so minutes for any sugar to get into your blood...so it wouldn't be worth it...
