Calming your nerves before fight/competition

I use the "mind vacation" method. I clear my mind of all thoughts or picture myself in a very comfortable and peaceful place, a beach, forrest, anything thats peaceful and refreshing. I highly recommend Sacred Hoops by Phil Jackson. Great book, not only for basketball fans. There is a chapter on how to deal with pre-game/competition stress.

anxiety sucks I have experienced it every time I have stepped into the cage. But it has been almost a year since my last fight, and I have done alot of preparing myself for this and I finaly have myself in a place where I can control my anxiety enought to where it want effect my performance in my fight. Like palakol said it doesnt hurt, ive fought bigger better guys than you.

I used to listen to music that pumped me up. But then i realized the best way to relax is to listen to some really calming music. Like jazz or guitar playing.

This might sound really weird, but I drink a lot of water so that I can pee right before the fight. I need to relief myself physically to be able to relief myself mentally.

My problem is that my adrenaline rush starts weeks or even a month or so before the competition. By the time I get to the match I am exausted by the time I first touch my opponent.

i feel like the same would happen to me. ive always had on and off anxiety problems. and i have no problem getting my adrenaline pumping off the charts at the drop of a hat. even just thinking of certain circumstances can get my adrenaline pumping like crazy. kinda makes me sick to my stomach.

ive been training 6 months and would like to maybe schedule a fight in the future. but im worried i would be the same.
