The new law prohibits requiring id from everyone who’s voting in person. It has nothing to do with registration, and it doesn’t prohibit exceptions where registration is lacking some infoThe new law bans requiring ID. ID should be required to register and then some type of proof it's you when ypu vote.
No proof is required to register not even a SS card.
The voter registration application asks for your driver license or California identification card number, or you can use the last four numbers on your Social Security card. If you do not have a driver license, California identification card or Social Security card, you may leave that space blank. Your county elections official will assign a number to you that will be used to identify you as a voter.
The law clearly states when you register that you have to be a citizen and over 18. If you leave the identifying criteria blank, you’ll have to provide something when you vote for the first time.
Are you saying you think people can register with no proof of their age or their citizenship, even though those things are required to register? Please go to their online registration and give it a try. If you’re successful and get a ballot under a fake name I will agree with you and change my opinion.
