"Calgary was one of six Canadian cities to endorse a charter Monday vowing to eliminate anti-Muslim hate crimes, as community leaders expressed concern about a rise in the number of Islamophobic hate crimes.

"It's a step to first acknowledge that this is a challenge and this is a real issue, said Hida Fadol of the National Council of Canadian Muslims, a civil liberties group.

"We can't even address the problem if we don't acknowledge it exists," Fadol added."

"Other cities signing the charter include Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Windsor and London. Leaders from the six cities held simultaneous news conferences on Monday."

To be clear I don't support any sort of misplaced vigilantism against Muslims. But, what does this this charter/move REALLY mean? Particularly when the vague term "Islamophobia" is used?

Further, every Muslim needs to be challenged about what their "faith" really is. And how is the Islamic communrity combatting the oppression that ALL of their homelands are overcome with as a direct result of Islam?

God forbid we pretend Islam is a normal religion and not the cult that it truly is. God forbid we sacrifice freedom of speech due to a squelching "charter" whatever it may be.

It's really disturbing, this constant theme being pushed in our media here of "Islamophobia". Notice how we don't have stories in the mainstream media of all that trouble out in New Brunswick, or of how Sharia is slowly being implemented in schools and swimming pools here in Toronto. No, just beat everybody over the head with this Islamophobia bullshit.

There are ads all over the bus stops in Toronto, public service announcements paid for by the city. It shows a white guy saying to a Muslim lady with a hijab "go back to where you came from" and she replies "where, North York?" (North York is a borough of Toronto). Then in big letters: MUSLIMS ARE A PART OF TORONTO. I look at them and I was thinking, is the point of this ad to reinforce in Muslim's minds that they're under attack by white people?

Some disturbing trends. I definitely agree with the poster who said the end goal is to criminalize any criticism of Islam. It will be called the "respect for religions" bill or some bullshit. Muslim lawyers work hard for this kind of stuff because it's just another avenue of jihad.
