Cal State Protests Turn Violent at Ben Shapiro Talk

Ben Shapiro was scheduled to speak at Cal State on Thursday, and was met with angry protestors that turned violent. Protestors assaulted would-be audience members and blocked the entrance to the auditorium, not letting anyone through, chanting 'Black Lives Matter', 'No Hate Speech', and 'Racist Go Home'.

Some students eventually began sneaking into the auditorium through a back route to hear Shapiro, but as Ben gave his lecture, he was interrupted by the fire alarm that was pulled.

As the protests grew, Shapiro had to be smuggled out by 10 police officers to ensure his safety, as the protestors blocked exists and reached "mob territory" with many assaults reported, some caught on tape.

Shapiro has been very critical that teachers had encouraged students to protest free speech, and that the President had even managed to shut down the lecture, citing "diversity". He has also condemned how the University handled the violence that took place, and many are calling for accountability for the incident.

Led primarily by the school’s Black Student Union and Black Lives Matter chapter, the hundreds of demonstrators, including some professors, poured into the Student Union building Thursday afternoon to block other students from attending the event.

Much of the crowd moved from the theater to the executive’s office to hold a sit-in and demand the resignation of CSU-LA’s president, William Covino, for allowing Shapiro’s appearance.

How disingenuous of him to try and associate the Democrats before the South flipped to today's Democrats. Its also rich for him to insinuate that racist Southerners kept police out of black communities. Sure they didn't care for them and probably didn't put effort into solving the murders there but they were instrumental in establishing and maintaining segregation. So its not like the police weren't in black neighborhoods, they were there but for the wrong reasons and that's why the black community has been historically suspicious of police presence. Of course he mentions that Officer Wilson was vindicated by the DOJ report but, unsurprisingly, fails to mention the 2nd report which validated many of the concerns of the protesters. Shapiro only appreciates half of the facts, the ones that confirm his position.

What happened to him at Cal State sucks though, no one deserves that. As much as I dislike Shapiro the student mobs are worse.

I don't care for Shapiro either but this is messed up. I don't think these obnoxious students are going to bring on the apocalypse and I think he's being maybe a tad dramatic at times but its still indicative of a worrisome trend among students at Universities..

The irony is that Covino did as much as possible to prevent Shapiro from coming to the University. Shapiro also called this in his lecture. He guaranteed that Covino would be eaten by his own side after this.

Professor Weide accused Shapiro of having White Supremacist ideals, and accused The YAF of having White Supremacist members. Shaprio quickly points out how ironic the accusation, given that he's Jewish. Weide also challenged students to wrestle him, citing, "I lift, bro", so I'm not sure if he's mentally stable.
