Cain is the best - deal with it

Nowadays, Cain could only beat Ronda Rousey under the right circumstances.

Meaning the 15% the time he's not bedridden.

It's true: 'peak Cain' was scary, but longevity has to be part of the criteria.

He could have been. We'll never know.

Bottom fucking line

Werdum beat him soudly when Cain was ready and healthy. Then Werdum gets torched by Stipe and loses to Overreem.

People like to pretend as if Cains injuries were his fault. They turn a blind eye to his performances against prime JDS, Lesnar and TRT Bigfoot. If DC’s endorsement of Cain isn’t enough; with him repeating time and again the Cain is the best in the world, then nothing is going to convince them. Of course Cain isn’t what he used to be now, but in his day only Fedor was a good match for him.

Give me a break. Cain was pushed as the great hw... Well he lost to the only real good hws he fought. Werdume. Jds counts too I guess but he lost to the good version of Jds too. He beat a bunch of over the hill, or not really good fighters. Travis brown.. Zombie over the hill nog, Kongo the b level guy, , big Ben also a b level guy... Come on. Fought jds 3 times, silva 2x, brock.. Get real people..., he won 12 fights and lost 3...thats not great at all, and considering that he fought the same guys multiple times, it's even less. In his prime he lost to jds and to Werdume. He was Mayne a top 10 hw but that's it. Just because the ufc pushes guys and calls them great doesn't mean it's so. His record is unimpressive. His record says he lost 1 for every 4 he won fights against not great competition. Thats not goat or even close.

Bottom Line: Cain scorched the same JDS who flattened Werdum.

Cain slaughtered the same Bigfoot who besmirched Fedor.

Cool gifs though.

The most tragic couldve been. Against Bigfoot is still one of the most impressive HW bouts Ive ever seen. Talk about it again in 2022? Hes flirting with WWF too.

Cain Velasquez certainly is a conundrum. His latter years were spent on pause as he recovered from numerous surgeries from injuries which didnt take place in the ring but in training camp. While on "the shelf" his best years were spent in "purgatory" however his career was certainly not lost as time passed him. We saw glimpses of his jaw dropping skills against Travis Browne, alas it was probably the final shot of seeing him in top form. Ironically what he does have going for him, if he can produce even one quarter of his overall skills is that the heavyweight division is in such acrid disarray that he would still be a top 5 fighter. I still consider him one of the best heavyweights i have ever seen, even if he is also the most puzzling "what if".

USADA beat the shit out of him and basically retired him

DC regularly beats the shit out of Cain in practice.

Leaving him ko'd in a heap and doing the rampage howl over his comatose glass body.

I think he had the potential. His longevity and consistency just couldn't hold up. At a point he did look like he was moving towards being the best, but he doesn't have a terribly long list of fights. I don't know if Cain's "mold" holds up against a laundry list of combatants. During his prime times where he could have been closing his holes and building his resume, he was injured and sidelined. He comes back after each layoff and looks like shit. Fortunately at the time, he was able to bounce back after the loss. But just as he gets his grove back, he gets injured again. And the last time, he was out for the longest he's ever been. This time, the grove did not come back. In his last fight he didn't look like he was fight worthy. Flailing all around like a drunk old man. His shot looked so labored and useless. That is a result of not fighting for a long time. The fact that he's older now makes it even worse. His muscle memory had dissipated so much that he looked like he was in an entirely different universe from his previous self. Sad to say, but the best Cain is behind us. And that Cain was promising, but still not enough to call the best due to having so few fights and being totally inconsistent.
