cnn was only good for keeping track of live election updates as they happen as you'd otherwise have to be refreshing shit from like 30+ different sources. and they are always good for hurricane coverage because they have a tendency to throw their reporters into hurricane zones and i find that a little sadistically amusing watching them getting blown around and soaked while the locals are out surfing on the ocean or kayaking down the flooded streets.

i don't bother watching much cable news. i get all my news off the internet. i hope i'm not the only one who says this, but my main source for news is the sherdog karate forum.

It's less about the individual and more about the fact real journalism has rules and codes of conduct compared to the freeforall shitshow of social media that the right gravitate towards.

For cable or network television broadcasts? I don't think so, but it could just be my personal bias against/heavy lack of experience with the format.

Who needs an image obsessed person to read aloud into a camera words written by others about hand-picked topics related to breaking news and ongoing stories? While they perform faux concern and faux interest both vocally and visually? This is a manipulative format IMO who's bandwidth to inform the viewer is faaar inferior to that of reading bullet points (aka headlines) about events and then having the option to read extensively about a topic of interest or of personal import.

There are reasons why some prefer the format, like poor literacy, loneliness, wanting to watch the reactions or lack of reactions from the hosts, but it just isn't an effective format if the goal is to maximize knowledge of what's up IMO

When the so called professionals are engaging in a high ratio of reality warping propaganda to unbiased delivery of news, then we can talk. They dug their own graves. If real journalism is a concern, as it should be, then nobody would still be tuning into the MSM 6 o’clock news

Leon Penetta who signed the petition to call Hunter's laptop Russian disinformation is someone MSM says is a reliable Trump critic with inside sources.

I agree, improvements can be made, and it seems in America particularly, those improvements are badly needed.

But it's literally better than nameless ghouls spreading lies and failing to check their facts so that they get a few hits and likes.

I'm comparing this to the bottom-of-the-barrel, worst-of-the-worst: social media.

No one should ever get their news from social media.

People are just tired. Watching the same networks lose their minds over every tiny thing Trump did for four years, and constantly being told he’s the next Hitler, is emotionally draining. Even if you believe them, living in a constant state of "the world is ending because of Trump" is exhausting. No surprise viewers are tuning out, they’re done being fed endless catastrophes and fearmongering.
